Our beloved truckin’ Canuck is AWOL somewheres in the northern wastes, so today you’ll have to put up with a quick-n-dirty OP.
Post trucker shit. Greentexts, images, memes.
No bus riders.
TF is hauling hot loads to Poontown. EF rides low and slow down the shore of Lake Huron. Doubles and the missus are narrowly avoiding an icy demise. Bepis is too cool for schoo-er, Discord. Primely is moonlighting as a voyeur/escort specializing in foot fetishes. Primefag is too busy making $8mil/month on his totally legit lease program to socialize. Gundam is making this shitty OP while riding shotgun with a trainee around Chicago, press F to pay respects.

nah but I caught another PA in the box jackin it during lunch.
Caleb Bennett
Pretty much.
Do they just throw whatever in the box, or are you assigned to a specific unit?
Jace Myers
Depends on what department I get tossed to. Generally, I drive camera and production.
Camera'll be: >camera carts >shit ton of pelican cases >soft bags >all of their gear Production'll be >director's chairs >popups >tables >folding chairs >heaters >Honda 2000 puttputts >wardrobe racks >general miscellaneous shit. If you get stuck driving the production cube, you become the catch all for all of the other trucks. I've had 10 ton drivers put camera dollys on my truck so they wouldn't be overweight.

Not a question but Paramount filmed a movie across the street from my house over last summer, was insane how dialed they were on setup. They would go out to a different location, then all of a sudden I hear the trucks come back, 10 minutes later all the wardrobe, food, equipment, all set up again, really cool to see.
Adrian Wood
Do you ever dress up in the ladies wardrobe stuff like the faggot you are?
Lucas Reyes
Oh yeah, that's my favorite part of the industry doing the real big jobs, when we fucking roll in on a place with the full setup. Funny thing is, usually when you're doing a couple location moves on a day, that's not the full fleet you see on set.

>Whiney ain’t dead after all Where you been, scrub? How are the oil fields anyway? I’m thinking of poking around local gigs. At the moment I only see a doubles gig on the radar, but I’m gonna start digging around for tanker work. Seconded. I use the hotspot feature with T-Mobile. Most services also offer straight up hotspot devices if you don’t want to cut into your phone’s data limit (thankfully T-Mobile has separate limits for phone data and phone hotspot data).

I've been working mostly, I kinda just forgot about these threads since I'm not on Veeky Forums much. A doubles gig wouldn't be bad, especially if it's Old Dominion. I'm not too familiar with local Tanker jobs aside from dairy and fuel desu
David Wright
You made a decision on what you're going to do now that Schlum fucked with your wage structure?
Brandon Nguyen
Well join the discord server then, at least there aren’t any shitposters there. And the gig I’m gonna look at is for R&L. I don’t think we have an Old Dominion terminal nearby.

I got unlimited high speed data on the phone itself, but hotspot is limited to some odd number. It was like 9GB a long time ago. I just do updates at home or on truck stop WiFi, it’s never been an issue. I’ve done that a grand total of once, but it was actually my own fault. Dispatch response was >”oh, well that sucks. Have them put it on the empty trailer you just brought over there and we’ll have the local guy tow the trailer to the shop.” Forklift guy wasn’t even mad, took like five minutes to swap the load over. Also dubs check.
Angel Parker
yes
Henry Brown
Verizon has a hotspot limit. Makes me sad because T-Mobile was unlimited hotspot
Aiden Torres
So I finally got around to becoming a trucker, and I drive for Knight Transportation, my terminal is based out of Tulare, CA, but by the looks of things, I'll be full 48. Being trained still though, in a 2018 International, so it isn't so bad. But being away from my beloved gas me feeling all kinds of homesick. I'm thinking after I pay my dues, I may just get something local. Or maybe find someone who would give dedicated routes to newbies. I don't really know what I'm trying to say or what I want, I'm just happy I can come back to these threads as a trucker. I do wanna haul hazmat at some point for more money, but again, still new so there's much for me to learn. Thanks for giving me motivation to leave my shit ass pizza job to learn a new skill.
Carson Sanchez
>Old Dominion
Been hearing quite a bit about how good this company is, and ABF.
Dominic Ward
There's certain shitty apps that allow you to hotspot without root/mods. I have AT&T's unlimited plan for $65, "for $30 more, can have hotspot access too!!!" but instead, I just didn't use the stock hotspot app and used another one. Sadly, FoxFi doesn't work for me anymore.
>tl/dr: save money, do some searching unless you don't care

>Go out on job this morning >Twin steers hydraulic pump no worky, something broke internally >Back on the little dirty old Kenworth T800 I started on until big truck is fixed

I might stay depending on what my first pay check looks like. If it's under $1300 net for the week then I'm gone.
Link it up senpai
Yeah, I'm trying to get in as well. The pay is astronomical for my area and I hear they're union so that's all the better.
Owen Smith
Yeah, might as well see what its like before making a decision.
Adam Peterson
>tfw only making $500/week during training, and then roughly $1k/week
I thought my pay was pretty good, but it seems I still don't know my worth. After training, I'll actually get paid 33¢ per mile, and then after the 30,000 mi probation, I'll get bumped up to 39¢ per mile.
Now that I think about it, it doesn't really seem like much. Though they entice you with "up to 5¢ per mile bonus if your fuel efficiency is up, serviced regularly, etc.", but the trucks don't have APUs, so what are we supposed to do in the summer and winter?
Joseph Morales
Yeah u can do a fastboot command on the pixel 2 and get unlimited I believe
Sebastian Wilson
39 cpm isn't bad for a brand new driver
Hudson Roberts
Sweat in the summer, and shiver in the winter. Unless you get heat stroke or frost bite, I doubt they really give two fucks about your comfort level beyond basic avoidance of litigation.
Make sure you pack lots of warm bedding and a beanie or something comfy to wear on your head for the winter months.
Kevin Martin
Why does my trip have to disappear fir no reason i am angry
Brody Sullivan
>fastboot
Glad it's still relevant. It isn't? Again, I know nothing of worth or value. Oh I love the cold, the summers are where I'm going to hate it. I do have a sleeping bag rated for 0℉ and some blankets, but no beanie.
Julian Ortiz
Is this u truckdog
Thomas Carter
I am Filenames, usually have a trip but lost it when I changed phones. I also like TruckerAnon and Carlos Spicyweiner.
Leo Phillips
So far it's been pretty shit, we are down to half of our original drivers and our dispatchers are fucking lazy.
That's not too bad for a beginner, I got luck starting at 42cpm with Swift, you should stick with it for about two years then you'll have the experience to move on. I've been grossing about $3200 every two weeks here, well before the pay scale changed.
Eli Rivera
To be honest with you, I don't know how one could live inside the truck for weeks or even months on end. How does one do it with a girlfriend and not get homesick?
Also, it says shift is from 6-6, that means I'll be home every night, no?
Noah Phillips
>that means I'll be home every night, no? Not in the world of trucking. You're out until the load is done, whenever that might be. If it takes longer than planned (and it will) then it just sucks to be you. If you're in a day cab and get stuck out you get reimbursed for a hotel room after having to rattle cages both to get the authorization in the first place and then to get the actual reimbursement later. Oh and once you get behind like that there's no catching up until there's a long enough break that you can get back to your starting point and have a full clock to start the next shift. On those local routes that usually means the weekend. Usually. Could take weeks to get back on top depending on loads, timing, etc.
tl;dr don't count on it
Parker Moore
Is there literally any benefit to driving a long frame truck? >turning is harder >backing in is harder >sleeper is tiny >inevitable mocking of your penis size
Carter Clark
Goddammit, why is it so hard to want to drive something like a semi and want to be home every night? That's literally all I want, I'm a baby who likes to continue young love and shower every day and have a work day end. Damn.
Makes me think I should have just become an IT like I was originally planning.
Anyways, I'm in a truck right now, and I guess I drive until sunrise during my training and I barely make it, I'm nervous as all hell since I tend to doze off, but tonight I have my caffeine pills. Since my trainer gets my miles, that's why he's having me drive so late, right?
Parker Clark
Stability maybe, and ride comfort.
That's about all I can think of.
Kevin Ortiz
>Goddammit, why is it so hard to want to drive something like a semi and want to be home every night? Because dispatch is told to use the driver's entire available time, be it the 11 for cpm, or the 14 for locals on hourly pay so that it looks like the pay is lower on the books. That means planning everything to the last second and makes drivers vulnerable to shippers who don't give a damn about somebody else's employee.
>Since my trainer gets my miles, that's why he's having me drive so late, right? Part of it. He's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart but also most companies consider training as nothing more than cheap team driving where they get a truck that can do double the work at less than half the cost. Basically the load plan you were given dictated that somebody has to drive all night and since you had the hours that meant it was you.
Parker Brooks
Because it looks cool, stupid
Matthew Sullivan
I wish I could drive during the day, I hate night driving past midnight. Thanks for being honest for me. What are my options for a new Class A that wants to be home every night?

It was fun for awhile, I didn't have a girlfriend at the time so it was easier. But after awhile you do get homesick like you said.
Also no, it's possible you can get stuck somewhere if you run out of hours, in which case they'll put you up in a hotel.
Andrew Stewart

my little bother told me that my dad sometimes takes fuel to area 51 I'm too lazy to bug him about it do you guys know anything about this?

We do; however, if you needed to know more, you would already know. This isn't something we can just tell to any outsider who gets curious
Ryan Adams
I have a Nexus 6 (in a drawer now), modified, some database files edited so T-mo couldn’t tell what was hotspot data and what wasn’t. I have no need for that anymore. Whatever the limit is now, I’ve never hit it. Link: discord.gg/MCa2MZ

Get a year's experience + doubles endorsement then go team up with someone at FedEx. Easy work, nice pay and home every weekend.
Better: convince girlfriend to get her CDL and drive team with you. Double your household income and you can have breakfast and dinner together every day.

I see...I'm still learning about these hour resets and "running off of recap" stuff.
Stopped near Flagstaff, hopefully I can park for a shower, I hate going 2+ days without a shower.
I used to do that, but phone is stock for PoGo on rare occasions for the girlfriend. Neat setup.
I really love that idea, thank you!!!

Easy, driver made a right turn at night, didn't pay attention to how close his blindside was to that ditch, steer catches, slides truck follows, wheels are already turned that way, truck continues corkscrew into ditch, trailers follow, voila.
