Masculinity.

the final drive unit on the mitsu i-miev requires a fluid change every 2 years, regardless of mileage. That was canadian spec though, might be due to "severe service" schedule.
~litre of mitsu ATF SP3 iirc

holy SHIT that car is fucking ADORABLE it looks like it's got cute little anime eyes

>no driveshaft
> less powertrain loss
>can put the battery wherever you want for weight distribution and make a balanced RWD car easily
>electronic differential for better grip or less grip if you want to do hektik skids
I am going to miss banging gears and the roar of an engine though

ICE is so fucking shit, wow.

A soundtrack.

I want that car!!!!

You can have literally any soundtrack you want because there's no engine noise that gets in the way

ICE were truly a work of genius: all those parts clanking, bopping, banging into each other and swirling around a thousands times per minute. And all that power by tiny fucking explosions!
It's pretty awesome what we humans built there, when you think about it.

If it has a range over 150 miles and doesnt cost $40k, I would consider buying this.

>no engine noise
That is the soundtrack you mong.

closest you'll ever get is this
slated for production

Shame about the abysmal efficiency

I have never wanted to hug a car before until now

post boipussy

>instant torque

>no inefficient multi-gear transmissions
>no complex differentials
They will have these.
Europe won't buy autos

Teslas don't have multiple gears, they sell like hotcakes in Europe and everyone loves the convenience

>tfw eastern euro slav
>key every tesla I see
who else /devilish/?

>can't turn

>ICE vehicles
Enough room for Mexican criminals

break up some spark plugs and use the bits to easily smash out the windows, that's what I do.

sorry, what was that?

>sex change
things that EVs require and ICEs don't.

EV's don't have suspension?
EV's don't have brakes?
EV's don't have tires?
EV's don"t have 50 motors to open latches?
EV's don't have a plethora of electronic components to fail?

If you lease a brand new ICE car the only thing you have to worry about is an oil change every 10k miles.

that looks raw

>bench seats
>awesome visibility
>no angry eyes or edgy lines
pretty much perfect

>they sell like hotcakes
I think pure evs are like 25% of all non ice car sales. No idea what percentage of those sales are tesla.
Ice cars out sell all Evs, phev, and hybrids 96:1.

Honda's two new EV cars look sexy as fuck.

If only they weren't a Honda. Seeing the Honda/Toyota badges make me wanna vomit.

I came here to post this

a brain

ah fuck
why does this always happen when I don't read the thread first

Id buy one. It captures retro design way better than all the yank v8 efforts

>being this new and gay

>Had to convert an ICE car to make his EV look remotely good

*cringes in silence*
youtube.com/watch?v=ywR4AYqPXz4

jesus fucking christ lmao
reminds me of when i was a kid playing with a remote controlled car

it sounds like an RC car

This is the sterilized, neutered future liberals want.

it basically is

>My car sounds like rum rum so im not a faggot
It sounds like shit but if it performs the same or better it leaves ICE cars on their deathbed

thats nice sweetie

>sweetieposting

The only time an electric motor should drive your car is if it has super capacitors and KERS

Not everyone needs a car to pose, user...

>no transmission fluid change
any electric car with a reduction gear, or any electric car looking to go over 150MPH
>no fuel change
but it's literally worse
it's slower to fill, has less energy capacity for the weight, and doesn't reduce in weight as it depletes (in fact its output becomes lower)
>no muffler change
ICE cars don't need that either if they come with stainless.
>no driveshaft
electric motors have driveshafts, and unless it's a "1 motor per drive wheel" setup they usually have half shafts off a differential.
>electronic diff
congrats, ICE has this too.
>easily balanced
unfortunately balance is only as good as combating inertia in a corner. a heavier car will have a harder time cornering on the same tires than a lighter car, even with perfect weight distro.

the "my car needs to make loud sounds otherwise people won't look at me" meme is among the most successful sold to the good little goys by the marketing teams

I wish we had a raw "electric whine" sports car, none of this silent shit.

>noise scares me help momy auuughhghhdhuhsdh
ok im literally laughing my anus off right now

How do you even put gears in an electric car?'

the same way you do in a gas one. electric cars already have a reduction gear at the very least.

hey my dad had one of these

a soul

Attach motor to transmission??
???
Lots of EV conversions use the stock manual gearbox. The Zombie 222 uses multiple overdrive units.

cleantechnica.com/2017/08/28/electric-1978-ferrari-308-manual-transmission-wicked-diy-win/

That was interesting.

Still, since torque is instant in electric engines, changing gears doesn't make sense right?

>since torque is instant in electric engines, changing gears doesn't make sense right?
1. it's not instant. that's why they use reduction gears.
2. electric motors still have an operating range of RPMs that you cant exceed. they also have optimum operating speeds, which transmissions can hone into various usable speeds while maximizing efficiency. a lot of electric startups don't use transmissions because it's complicated to make one that holds up to the rotational forces

Motors aren't miracle devices. They have torque and power bands just like an engine. A choice of gears would allow you to stay in the efficiency or performance zone and you could get away with a smaller motor/s with less amp draw.

The "instant torque" comes from the ultra low gearing that electric drivetrains tend to use. That's also why they run out of steam after 60.

he said masculinity, not niggery

good luck in your EV if there's ever an EMP attack, or an inevitable solar storm

I am a Nazi, and I love electric cars, so you're wrong

>electric cars have systems controlled by computers
>systems are vulnerable to hackers
>petroleum/diesel cars have systems that rely on mechanics
>hackers struggle to fuck with them

>electric cars have systems controlled by computers
So do nearly all modern ICE cars
>systems are vulnerable to hackers
Where is the vulnerability? What EVs have been "hacked"?
>petroleum/diesel cars have systems that rely on mechanics
>hackers struggle to fuck with them
You can't cut a brake line? Loosen a tie rod? Pretty easy to "hack" any car.

Modern cars are mostly crap anyway. I prefer cars from the early 2000's backwards

When batteries get good you wouldn't have to care about EV efficiency. Gut all the electronics and use big fuck huge relays and resistors with DC motors, like an old electric train

And someone could potentially do more damage if they successfully hacked a car with electronic systems, but with a mechanical car, most of the stuff you could do would either be noticed by the driver shortly after they go to use it, or wouldn't give you as much control over the outcome.

Shut up

When I can buy a used electric car for 3000 euros that can do 150km on a charge, I will swap to electric. But right now they're still 8000-9000 euros, so I will have to wait 4-5 years.

Electric cars still need brakes, you can't fully rely on recuperative braking via motors.

>Fucking Li-ion cells, that barely give current at 0 deg. C

EV can be controlled by resistor, if motor is brushed. Like 1940s trolleybuses

>trash-tier energy-densitiy

That is not an issue, because in gas vehicle motor and transmission are the most heavy parts, and in EV motor and transmission is relatively light.
So, saved weight from gas motor can be used for batteries.

Pneumatic braking masterrace

>muh torque
>Can't even create a huge smoke cloud

>Someone on finally brings back a good looking small roadster
>It's electric

EV owners get sex changes alot

Not funny. I d rather go to 9000 rpm and hear the engine while it GIVES ME THAT LINEAR BOOST

europe is retarded, and you're very wrong

Hot cum

>What are some other things that ICE vehicles require, and EVs don't?

Drivers with testosterone

ICE requires happiness

summary of ICE-cuck arguments:
>muh testosterone

did I miss anything?

masculinity this fragile, lmao

>keyboard nazi thinks his roleplay proves he isn't a neutered little bitch

When EVs are more developed and absolutely cane ICE cars (already at that point really) like the Rimac and when the roadster gets released all the supercars will be electric as it is just superior.

The only thing that needs more development is battery tech. The induction motor has been the same for 100 years.

...

>All EVs will come with mandatory cellular receivers/wifi chips
>"Monitor your driving stats! Turn on destination/route suggestion to always know where youre going! Connect to the Internet of Things!"
>Boomers and Gen Y soyboys will love it
>Government, NSA, Joogle will always know where you are and where you go
>will sell your info to other corporations
>car can be remotely disabled, locked, or even driven by authorities
>car can be hacked by China, Russia, domestic spy agencies
>instead of emissions/safety test, there will be monthly 'software updates'
>these updates will increase surveillance and slow down vehicle performance slightly, ala Apple
>illegaly disabling or tampering with your EV's software and connectivity will flag it to authorities

I'm sticking with my ICE as long as I can... but they'll probably be banned

If you don't think these happen already then you are...

FUCKING STUPID

i kinda like it.

sure its happening already but not on the same scale as will come to pass in the future with the rise of EVs. Right now lots of people still drive cars from the 90's or early 2000's but this will be prohibited soon enough
