At any level that matters, he get's one shot when he is not invulnerable. He's good, but other frames do just as well. Oberon currently better because he has damage dealing abilities that help clear trash. And pic related, smite is a very good first ability.

The only frame that benefits from gas or more elemental damages in the game is saryn.

ember's 2 debuffs enemies and makes them more susceptible to heat damage only, not composite elements that include heat, while the augment on her 1 simply adds more heat damage to be combined however it works out on an ally (and her 2 augment adds heat damage to all allies, including the caster, in range) which will effectively increase gas damage (or turn pure toxin into gas, etc)

I guess the better idea is to just buddy up with them
