Is the frontier pro-4x any good?

My brand new crossover has met an untimely fate and I figured I would step up considering its always used for outdoorsy stuff. I initially wanted a xterra but the ones here are beat to shit because people use them for off-roading. Same applies to trucks so I will be buying new. Any idea of a capable small suv or small trucks? I wanted something the size of the xterra but I can't seem to find any brands with small off-roaders. North America here so no euro specific stuff

ive been looking at some xterras and frontiers with the pro-4x trim too OP, they seem like the best budget offroader with the specs it offers. a taco/4runner of the same year with the TRD off road package would probably be nicer overall but they are a bit more pricey. The Nissans also have decent aftermarket, not toyota or jeep tier but still good.

If the xterra is the same as a D40 Navara, which it looks like it is - stay the fuck away from them they are really bad. get a hilux or something

With the ranger and Dakota coming back into production soon the market should be flooded with these light trucks soon, hopefully dropping the price. So get something you like because I wouldn't think the values in these things are going to hold for much longer

I have a 2015 bought new 29000 miles now
It is pretty good truck.
Fuel economy is not great 16mpg
Overall happy with my truck

its the last "old" design(meaning simple) small truck you can buy in North America. They're pretty good if you care about something like that otherwise a Tacoma or Colorado may be better if you're inter newer designs. Personally I think you're money is best spent on a used Ranger or older Tacoma since they're not hard to find in good condition and are simple to work on but if you're buying new the Frontier is the best option.
>tfw no new 70 series Land Cruiser here

Xterra 4x4 owner here. I’ve had mine since new, bought in 2008 and now has 201k miles on it. I love it, have had no major issues with it. If anything get a Frontier with 4x4 or find a newer Xterra. Manual trans would be best because the 4.0s had an issue with coolant and transmission fluid mixing with auto transmissions.

Americans can never have this

Nope, Navaras are terribad desu. Great for business at my work though.

Dakota is not coming back we are getting a fiat based pickup. Issue is unless that bronco is in the compact truck size I wont be interested.

not showing the far better troopy

Fucking chandileir hanging from the ether

lol back to the topic user

I heard rumors of Jeep coming back with a pickup. Smaller than a brute. Not sure what they're calling it

They’re not bad. The aftermarket is pretty limited, but the truck as a whole is arguably sturdier than a Tacoma for much less.

nice set up

How do Colorados do off-road? I'm into getting a small truck and they are really cheap in my area. Option to ls1 swap if the engine ever die but idk about them other than they are half the price of Tacoma's with the same year/milage.

Its hard to say. Lets put it like this. The Colorado/ canyon etc would have to put in a shit ton of work to keep up with the tacoma and I suppose frontier. Both of the latter are tested trucks and seem to do well. Tacoma usually better though.

They're not good offroad without the off-road trims, stock suspension is more for dding, but any smaller truck is nicer off-road than a bigger truck so a Colorado base may be fine depending what you're doing.

Avoid anything pre-2012 gen, the older ones are more problematic with electronics than Silverados and are cheap for a reason. V6.
