More than you can afford pal,
Ferrari.

>ruining a pristine car like that
who cares if it has an autotragic, you only do that if it's a piece of shit

the autotragic ruins that car.
And whats the point of a classic if you cant enjoy driving it.
You can keep your shitty fucking american landbarges autotragic, this is a japanese sports car, made at a time when america was half way into lab testing a theory that corners exist.

hence why faggots like you should stay away from them

Just buy a 4 or 5 speed 280z, they are still really common. Go to /ccg/ if you have any more questions, trove of knowledge for classic cars. Also there are like 4 guys over there with old Z's

Muh classic cars can go fuck themselves.
Car is meant to be fun to drive.
Museoms preserve cars, we must honor the cars by using them purposefully.
You can go and shift AC modes with your anus in your volvo comfybarge, real men fucking race jap classics.

>tfw no 240z rb26 widebody race car

unironically kill yourself.

this, its honestly faster and easier and propably cheaper to change the car than transmission.
Rule is, if you have to ask you can't handle it.

Go and buy up all the cars you don't want to be trashed.

>muh race cars should sit in garage and only be taken out for a 5 mile sunday drive half the speed limit on straight empty roads

Its better to destroy classics on track like they were meant to, than to let them suffer boring normie driving for an eternity.

go buy up all the transmissions you don't know how to install

>it's better to thrash classics around a track with my spic buddies in Civics than it is to keep them roadworthy

this just screams how autistic you are

it used to be really cheap but i think parts are harder to find now

Watch Wheeler Dealers, Season 12, episode 6. They tackle this very issue on that very car

If you own that car, it's clean enough that you could sell it for a pretty high price and buy a manual in slightly worse condition.

It's literally cheaper to buy an automatic and convert it.
See:

Period correct racing is the best.

You will never be faster or preform better than a car 40+ years after yours.
It's like trying to make a mosin compete with a newer bolt gun. You can make the mosin shoot a little more accurately, but you will have to replace most of the original parts with new ones, so much so that the original feel if the mosin is long gone and the newer gun will still outshoot you.

It literally is, cars are for driving not for being jerked off to by a bunch of retard boomers every 6 months.

boomers understand that they aren't the sole caretaker of a vehicle during its lifetime.
dumb fucking subhuman animal

>newfag here
Newfags can’t triforce
>pic related has 3 speed auto
Shame
>is it possible to convert to a 5 speed
Yeah but you’d need a 280ZX parts car
>how much will it cost?
Shop around, call some shops if you do t want to do it yourself

The worst thing you can do for any car is let it sit.

If you are even asking such a question you have no business owning such a classic car. Sell it to someone who isnt a megapussy

Racing a classic =/= destroying a classic. Would you rather a 250GTO be parked in a garage for 20 years only to be taken out to sell for $20 million more than the last one, or would you rather it do what it was born to do?
youtube.com/watch?v=W97N-MNenj4&ab_channel=GoodwoodRoad&Racing

If you have to ask how much, you cannot afford

Depends on the car. Can't tell you on that Z but I know I'll be manual swapping my Corona once I unfuck the engine

keep and sell.
I don't give a shit about a 50 year old deathtrap's 'performance', odds are its shittier than a basic modern hot hatch.

My 76 280Z has a 5 speed from a later model ZX. Definitely possible and should be somewhat straightforward on mating to a L28.

Go with gusto.

Go take some viagra, stupid boomer cuck

I'm 23. Stay pleb.

>I'm 23.
Maybe you were in 1975 faggot. Go back to your garage and fap to your stationary cars which never get driven because MUH CLASSIC

Shouldn't be too hard of costly.
Custom bellhousing to mate new trans to motor
Custom driveshaft to mate old diff to new trans
Swap out the shifter

That's assuming that you're using some manual trans that's not OEM to that car.

I've just learned to appreciate things.
As I said, stay serf.

Who are you quoting?

>I've just learned to appreciate things.
Appreciating cars is actually driving them, not just looking at them in a garage while drinking your evening shiraz
>stay serf.
>I'm a nobleman because I DON'T even drive cars I'm so intelligent
Literal retard.

why the fuck would I drive something I could use to make a giant profit and risk breaking it?
Sorry, but gas fumes and muh vroom vroom feels wouldn't feed me or my hypothetical kids.

You lost me with the gun reference. It’snot really something I’m knowledgeable about. But haven’t some guns been produced the same way for over 50 years like the 1911?

I’m just guessing here, but you’d need the tranny, a custom bell housing, a different center area for the interior to fit the new shifter, and a custom ecu to be the brain for everything. I’ve never done something that in depth am I missing anything?

Both are undeniably good options lol. That appreciation cash would be great, no way around it. BUT cars are meant to be driven, so no fault in that as well.

Unironically this

Diagnosis: autism

>destroy classics on track like they were meant to
but they weren't meant to

They make "new" old guns like that to pander to boomers.
A modern m1911 will shoot far better than one made in 1945.
It would be sadder if technology didn't advance
*Glances at aircraft from the 70s
Oh

which is more autistic
>taking the car out and having fun racing it
or
>going to garage periodically to look at the car and autistically screech if anyone asks to touch it

ITT: mad poorfags who won't outbid him
stay mad

Faster racing =/= more exciting racing. Some of the races at the Goodwood Revival are more exciting than pretty much any modern series you care to name. The same goes for classic F1 vs modern F1, Group B rally vs any other era of rallying

The thing is, you can't really call yourself a car enthusiast if your car is just another investment in your portfolio.

Keeping your car under wraps for the appreciation is definitely the most logical thing you can do for something like a 250GTO, but IMO if your thinking is skewed that way, you really shouldn't be owning a 250GTO

>>is it possible to convert to 5-speed manual?
Yes, but it's a shiteload of work - MUCH easier to just buy a manual.

I used to have a 280Z like that. What a fun car. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if they weren't so prone to rust and cracked interior parts.

listen here you mega faggot, there are much higher yielding investments than a car if money is all you care about now fuck off

It's not even that good of an investment either.

>All of these faggots not giving OP an actual answer

Ok, OP, here's now you do it:
Step 1 - Acquire 5-speed tranny from '77-'78 280Z or any N/A 280ZX and appropriate corssmember, as well as a flywheel and clutch for the L28.
Optional step 1.5 - Acquire all necessary pieces for a 3.90 diff swap and appropriate (19-tooth, white) speedo gear.
Step 2 - Acquire manual pedal set and clutch hydraulics.
Step 3 - Remove auto tranny and flex plate.
Step 4 - Install Flywheel, clutch, and manual tranny.
Step 5 - Remove and replace pedal assys.
Step 6 - Install and bleed clutch hydraulics.
Optional step 7 - Perform diff swap.

You now have a manual 280Z. Obviously there's much more actually involved in performing the individual steps but that's really all there is. You don't have to worry about electronics or structural differences between the auto and manual models or any of that. It's literally just swapping parts.

>it's a shiteload of work
On paper, sure, but you can do it all in a weekend if you have even a basic understanding of how to work on the car and all the parts ready to go. It's really not hard, I've done two of these swaps for less than a grand each.
