Powdercoating in SoCal

Does anyone know any cheap powder coating companies in SoCal? Specifically, near San Diego? I’ve asked a few companies how much they charge, and they said prices ranging from $800 to $1500, which is obviously absolutely absurd.

What are you powder coating?

If you can fit whatever you are doing in your oven just buy a cheap gun and do it yourself

by far the biggest expense in powdercoating is surface preparation.
Sandblasting is very labor intensive

this but conceal from wife

2008 Corvette wheels in gloss black

i've had good experiences with cheap spray cans.. been using some matte black heat resistant stuff for painting bbq's for years and as long as you prep the rims well it holds for a long time. once every year i touch up the small spots that chipped because of gravel impact or whatever and every 3 years or so i sand them down and respray

lots of effort but cheap

There's an even cheaper method user.

Get some really dusty brake pads and abuse the hell out of them, then spray some clear gloss on top.

I wonder if the long block is still good.

Those are the exact same wheels I plan on buying and powdercoating lmao

posts like these make me wonder why people get married

>get blastee item
>point blaster
>blast
I'd use soda or bead blasting on something like a wheel desu

Having a wife is my biggest fetish

Looking at those "how it's made" videos on the cable tv channels, it looks like an incredibly low cost method. They make it look so easy and cheap to do.

Those are good prices for powder coating in California. You may just have to plastidip

fuck that's expensive. I can do 2000 feet of raw aluminum extrusion for like $400 in az

fags

i literally just got my wheels powder coated 2 months ago for about 80 a wheel, so that ended up being about 320

What the fuck is California on?

EPA fees I bet or they just don't want to deal with OP

Why would the EPA interfere with a powder coat job? i can see exhaust emissions, but not a powder coat job

>don't want to deal with OP
This is probably just it

Surface treatment and spraying bro. Lot of chance for acids and airborne shit that you have to dispose of properly

ah ok that makes more sense now.
how would they even go about stopping that kind of pollution? Air filters?

I have no idea. I've only visited our coater like 5 times. It's dusty as fuck, I feel like I'm going to get cancer every time I set foot in there. If this thread is still up by Friday I'll let you know, I have to talk to them anyway
