I kept doing it until I could play Barnes turn 4 and he pulled Yshaarj (only other minion in my deck was Sneed so I loaded up on deathrattle activation cards)

Not really, I thought it was quite challenging. Murlocs made it possible to skip the two challenging phases, but they still required perfect openings in order to win.

All you need is ramp, auction, jade idols and spreading plagues to buy you time, just fill the rest of your deck with cheap minions for him to blow up
