Is this a viable swap?

No because you can do a 5.0 Coyote swap you fucking mong.

no unless you mean a fwd """escort"""

Yes.

Yes, you can use a ranger 3.0 V6 transmission for RWD.

Boring

God, why is the intake manifold on these so sexy?

Interesting. Is there a write up on a forum one can read?
Dunno, just are

>boring man
>i would rather have a weaker, less reliable, shitty sounding Ford V6

>instead of a monstrous powerhouse of a reliable V8

u are fucking AIDS

holy crap we get it, you like the 5.0. if we all drive 5.0 mustangs then the world would be an awful, boring place. go the fuck away and let people dream up ideas that are actually fucking interesting.

I'm fucking dying, I went to wikipedia to look at some specs on it and one of the first lines I read is this: "Due to the engine's unusual and aesthetically pleasing appearance it is sometimes transplanted into other vehicles."

Guess you should go for the swap OP

I'm sure there's one somewhere if you look for it, all I have is an old magazine article.

Some people are car enthusiasts and not benchracers obsessed with numbers.

...

maybe he should do a 2jz swap into a RAM3500 with duallies

that would be unique wouldn't it

wouldn't it you CUNTS

Also
This. It's a beautiful engine..Well at least the manifold is.

...

>Being slower is more interesting

Fantasizing about a terrible engine swap doesn't make you a car enthusiast

...

>Working on cars and trying different ideas doesn't make you a car enthusast
>Doing the same thing over and over and never experimenting does

Doesn't sound like you care about cars and just want a cheap and safe thrill. Thank goodness people don't think like you so we have innovation.

Of course it's been done, hell, it's been done into a fucking topaz.

>He thinks engine swaps are a cheap easy thrill

It would be different but it would not be the right way to handle it.

Lol
Neat! Where or how did you come across these scans?
Rollers are abundant, and there's a shitbox sho with a good motor. But it's ideas, guy. Cool ideas.
TEMPO TEMPO TEMPO

It's bigger than the LS and makes shit power. Parts are likely unavailable.

>putting a gm in a ford

When I eventually kill my 95, 3.2, 250k mile shitbox SHO it's engine is going in either a Tempo/Topaz or EXP with a MTX behind it.

The only way to go fast in a Ford.

>Camaro slower than the GT
>Corvette slower than the GT
>muh V8 slower than a V6

kekkkarino

>GM cuck
>fucking delusional

yup, checks out

Stick it in a ZX2.

It can be done on the Fox body fairly easily once you have custom mounts for it.
Transmission-wise you'd need an M5OD transmission from a Vulcan V6 Ford Ranger or Ford Aerostar.
The SHO V6 has the same transmission bolt pattern as the Vulcan V6, so any RWD conversion for a Vulcan will work.

>not being able to stay together for more than a 1/8 of a mile
>priceless

why don't you just get a tattoo that says "not a GM cast" that way I don't have to remind your dumbfuck inbred brain everytime you get triggered by Ford's superiority

seriously, try being less stupid

>all this 1/8 """"records""""
who gives a shit its like being the smartest drooling buffoon on the short bus

>it doesn't count because it hurts my feelings

A few Ford guys were so envious of GM superiority that they poored 50 times the amount of money into a car than would of had to if they had run a GM so they could hold records racing half the distance everybody cares about..... okay then

see

Swap in a barra engine from Australia or a sbf 427. Hell even a 351w. Coyote 5.0 swaps are fucking retarded and not worth it. 15 grand all said and done for engine, swap harness, swap headers, and mounts. 15 grand for 400hp is idiotic.

he should do a SHO v8

those are rad

If there's a rwd trans that would bolt to it that's be a sick swap.

>Mod motor record
>Ford
color me surprised a ford won a class for fords

ford engine racing parts have a better selection than gm gm has better transmisisons so most people use gm

there isn't a single LS running 5's

I am so sick of aussiefags saying "swap a barra" to Americans.
it's beyond retardeds for a number of reasons.

1: The engine is expensive because of shipping and the cost of replacement parts. If going through the trouble of a Barra engine, you could spend less and have a much more powerful and faster LS V8 swapped in.
2: The Barra engine doesn't like to rev. And before the Aussies chime in, that's the point. The appeal of the SHO V6 isn't that it's powerful. It isn't particularly powerful by todays standards. But the SHO V6 is a KNOWN Screamer.
Just listen to this thing.
youtube.com/watch?v=Z0mrWgs9lbw

and to prove my point about the screamer nature of the SHO V6 being the entire point of its appeal...
youtube.com/watch?v=lRCdn2EM7Dk
youtube.com/watch?v=uuDaZDs14tU

That sounds fucking horrible. All that noise for What? 400hp and no torque?

>Kissing the high side of 8 grand with every shift because the motor is meant for it
>Just enough power and torque to keep your guard up.
>The noise of a Ford V6 with a valvetrain that cares

Do it.

You could say the same for any Honda 4 cylinder. Those tend to be High RPM screamers as well

And the Taurus SHO was fast at the time, fast enough to scare V8 Mustangs of the same time. This earned the Taurus SHO a reputation was one of the first modern factory sleepers.

Ford brought back the SHO for the performance model of the Taurus in 2010 sue to fan demand.
The new Taurus SHO continues the V8 killing ways of its predecessor with an AWD twin turbo 3.5L 'Ecoboost' V6 making 365 HP off the showroom floor. Pic related.

The SHO may not mean much to aussies, but the car is an icon among sleepers in America. The original SHO V6 was originally just going to be a DOHC version of the Ford Vulcan V6. But Ford contracted Yamaha to make the engine. yamaha kept the loosest of connections to the Vulcan (basically the layout and the transmission bolt pattern) and basically designed a new 3.0L Screamer from the ground up.

The new SHO's have no input from Yamaha.

lol fucking piece of shit can barely get itself out of 3rd gear

keep in mind the Taurus SHO launched in 1989 with 220 HP. A 15 second flat 1/4 mile was really fast at the time, considering most cars managed a 17 or 18 second 1/4 mile.
caranddriver.com/reviews/1989-ford-taurus-sho-road-test-review

>220hp
HAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Name other cars making 220 or more HP in 1989 without the use of a supercharger or turbocharger.
The list is quite small. and the smallest engine on the list is going to be the 3.0L SHO V6

Back in the day, sure. Nowadays though? You can get 400hp for next to nothing with a Coyote or LS.

right. but neither will scream like an SHO
That's the appeal of the engine. You either like the screamer nature or you don't. Sure, you can make an LS or a Coyote a screamer with a fantastic sound and power output, but then you're talking an engine that's a LOT more expensive as well.

If you have a fox body and want a screamer on a budget, your choices are either the SHO V6 or a worked over 4.8L LS.

On the Escort OP mentioned, That's more complicated. No one has swapped an SHO V6 into an Escort to my knowledge. That's not to say there aren't options there.
You could go for the 1.8L Mazda BP 4 cylinder, which bolts right in and has a larger aftermarket.
Or, if V6's are your thing, you could grab a 2.5L V6, transmission and ECU from a Ford Probe/Mazda MX6, and use the subframe and wiring harness from a Mazda MX3 to mount it in the Escort, and it should all bolt in.
youtube.com/watch?v=gtG0xFdSHyE

>but neither will scream like an SHO

Coyota makes more power at a higher rpm with a higher redline.

At least it's not as bad as the LS swap meme. Some people don't seem to understand that sometimes and engine can be too big or too powerful for a certain chassis without spending tons of money and compromise other things like handling, only to end up with a barely drivable piece of shit only good for doing burnouts in.

A Coyote isn't too powerful for a foxbody though, the Terminator Cobra still sat on basically the same chassis.

Redline is debatable. The Mustang GT 5.0, and the SHO V6 have the same 7000 RPM Redline. The SHO V6 itself is safe to 8500 RPM. Ford limited the redline to 7 grand out of concern for the engine accessories like the water pump, alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor

An LS V8 is NOT too big for a fox. Hell, the COyote is a bigger engine. Pic related. On the left, a 6.2L LS3 from a Camaro. On the right, a 5.0L Coyote from a Mustang

Boss redline is 7,500

What about the escort though

BMW M635csi did have in 1983 286hp for 3.5l engine.

Again. SHO V6 is smaller. Never said there weren't engines making more power in 1989. Just that the list was small.

see:

...

I'm american. I just really like Aussie engines.

I would like to have an Aussie Falcon.
Or an American, 2nd gen. Dunno what motor. Something fun to cruise in.

You guys need to chill. The idea was to have something like an SVO, not go for maximum powah.

You do realize that the V6 in the SHO had heads done by Yamaha? That engine is capable of reving to 8500rpm but they limited it to 7000rpm because the fucking accessories couldn't take it. It has a great powerband and it made the 1993 Taurus SHO faster than the 1993 Mustang GT in the quarter mile.

It's one of the top five V6 engines of all time. It's not just some Vulcan V6, which I can understand why you wouldn't like.

Because Yamaha
