Why are these shitheaps so expensive when they have a fucking four cylinder?
take a deep breath, you sound either underage or you're just a manchild with no concept of how car valuation works. The number of cylinders don't matter when it comes to how much a car is worth. There are so many factors.
The E30 M3 holds its value since it is a homologation special. The cars were built as they were for the street so that they could go racing in that set-up. If the road car didn't have it, by the rules of German Touring Car at the time, the race car couldn't have it. The flares, the front and rear spoilers, the altered suspension geometry, all of it needed to get on a road car so that the race cars could have an advantage on the track. It paid off.
Also, keep in mind that there were less than 8,000 e30 M3's imported into the US by BMW of North America for sale (some others made it in gray market). Less than 18,000 were made total for sale in all markets over the 5 year production run. There were a LOT more e36 M3's made than that. Number of cars available does help dictate price.
shut your dumb ass up.
Racing Heritage, keiichi tsuchiya, the fact that at one point they were cheap, but still are fun and lightweight and easy to throw around.

That's a bold claim user, what are your qualifiers.
Supply and demand
Because very few were made and sold and a lot of people want it
Because very few were made and sold (in the US and Europe) and lots of people want it
He meant BMW chassis
Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road-race car. M3s entered by BMW and private racing outfits dominated the competition for all the years it was in production. Wins include the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft, British Touring Car Championship, European Touring Car Championship, Australian Touring Car Championship and even the one-off World Touring Car Championship title in 1987. The E30 M3 is also a multiple winner of Guia Race, 24 Hours Nürburgring, Spa 24 Hours, and countless Rally Car Championships worldwide.
