Copfag here, getting an accident report does nothing. The insurance companies do their own investigation and determine who was at fault (in my last collision they didn't even ask for the report number).

All it does is take up an hour of your time waiting for us to get done handling actual police matters and an hour of my time writing the report. Also if the damage is less than $1,000 and there's no injuries we don't take a report. We just stop by and say "well, sorry you had to wait an hour, bye!"

The proper thing to do is get their name, license plate, phone number, and insurance info (company, policy #, and phone #) then call their company and cry about how they intentionally tried to ram you off the road and demand payment.

They will call your insurance company and your insurance company will call your parents. In Cali I think its a crime to wait 10 days or something like that to not report an accident no matter who's at fault.

Your insurance for you personally will be expensive as fuck and no one will wanna insure you.

.t was involved in an accident when I had a permit, insurance is stupid high but I make above 3.7 in college so its not AS BAD but still expensive than if I had a clean record.

Also, I believe driving without insurance in california is a crime, regardless if its your parents car or not. Nothing felonious, but a crime nonethless noted in the DMV handbook. I know because I too live in this shithole.

I still get pissed whenever I think about it. The cops in the area have a reputation for hating out-of-towners, and because my address was in a different county and the other guy was local, I'm sure that had a lot to do with what happened.

Kids turned out to be fine, but got hauled to the hospital just in case. I got 5k from insurance because there was no way to prove how bad the engine was and other than that it was worth that much. Oh, and the laptop was still 100% fine somehow, and im posting on it right now.

O p the car is insured not the people in it unless you're a regular driver which you are not.

LP the other party is going to call your insurance and get a payout to fix their car if there are medical related expenses insurance will handle that as well you are required by the state to have a minimum coverage, very rarely will medical and similar claims go over this minimum if they do your insurance will fight it tooth and nail in court that's what you pay them to do stop being a reckless retard and move on with your life.

You'll have in your contract with your insurance that you wont ignore them. You can try but you risk them canceling your insurance. I think one of the questions when buying car insurance "have you ever had your insurance canceled?".

This also means they the other driver can sue you personally and you'll lose easily since the cop will be able to back up the accident story. So instead of your insurance paying, you'll be paying out of pocket for whatever the minimum amount is in smalls clams. Some states are 5k, some are 3.5k.
