Initial D is about a shitty shitbox passing better cars because of genius level supperior driving skill in a shitty ass car.

Therefore, American Initial D's shitbox will be a 1990 Honda Civic.

Nah, Dagumi's AE86 is top trim, so Americumi would have a 5.0 GT. Itsuki buys a V6 and that guy with the turbo 86 coupe instead has a turbo-4 Capri.

How is the M3 not the best fit?

Forth and fifth gen Corvette, obviously. Perfect FC and FD RX7 analogue for the American setting- purpose-built domestic sports cars faster, better handling, and more expensive than the wet-noodles the rest of the main cast is driving, such as the sport coupes like the nipland S13s or the ubiquitous domestic Foxbody's corner-whore platform and parts sharing.

Nah man, mustang gets overestimated rather than under.

Try chevy nova or AMC Eagle SXT with a ton of patina.

Because the corvette exists. Adding in a euro-rivalry element would change the tone of the series a bit.

Honestly I figured the Corvettes would be a little much for takumis fox body to handle. But I suppose that makes more since my dude. I prefer that.

Could you find that video?

How about they just get rotaries? Rotards still exist here.

It has to be all-american redneck adventures.

Why find an analogue? wouldn't they just drive LHD FC and FDs?

Then what would be the point of setting it in the US, you fucking weeb moron?

THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS

The Hero has to be the all-american. His opponents can be anything. In fact i think it would be better, if we're trying to market to the NASCAR demographic, if the hero's american car magically beats foreign cars on a regular basis.

Yeah, and takumi would drive an AE86

after he blows up the iron duke in the fiero, his dad puts in the 3.3L SD4 race engine

Debatable but plausible.

The real answer is that American Takumi would be driving a 1979 AMC Spirit.

He would start out with the 3.8L straight six, which when blown would be replaced with a 5.0L V8 from one of the AMC Spirits racing in the FIA Group One 24-hour race at the Nurburgring in 1979.

Itsuki would buy one with the most basic trim and only the 2.5L straight four.

Wataru would have a more recent AMC Spirit with the redesigned grill and the 4.2L straight six, turbocharged of course.

That stupid fucking kid from the end of the series would drive one with the "sedan" bodystyle (it actually looks nothing like a sedan, but whatever).

The AMC Spirit is the right choice because it's a lightweight subcompact economy car with options for performance upgrades and some real usage in racing, just like the Corolla of the mid 80s.

What would you put 'Stayan Tacuntmi in?

man i wish this would be an anime

Stupid. Every single racer's car in Initial D is Japanese. It's only fitting for every one of them in American D to be American, it's not like there isn't enough variety.

>some retard in an iroc
>can't even spell 'camaro'

>literally drives a 250hp 900kg downhill machine after 2nd stage
>o lmao its just a piece of shit junker!

Stupid, this is because it’s Japan. Foreign cars are rare and expensive and young teenagers racing on mountain passes can’t afford to crash rate and expensive.

Japanese cars stopped becoming rare after the early 1980s. Every dumb hick boomer has at least heard of Datsun Zs and Mazda RX7s by then. If it’s anywhere other than backwoods Iowa/Kansas I would’ve even guaranteed Japanese cars making up half of the cars on the road.

If Initial D took place in America it’d be SoCal Veeky Forums set in the 2000s. California Canyons have had a longer racing history than Japanese Touges since 1950s Hollywood Stars were speeding in Porsches and Jaguars up and down Mullholland
