Alright, but in reality if you could pull up a trailer the size of a shopping cart to your tesla, and it doubles its range, would you do it? I can't imagine it being a huge seller because the average person isn't going to tow a small trailer to make their 20 mile round trip to work and back. But if someone wanted to drive 500 miles to see grandma, plug in the car for 2 days, and drive back for the weekend, I can see it being useful for a self-contained battery pack which does its own heating and cooling.

It's not an oil bath, just normal coolant, but most of your post is correct. Conceivably you could have a coolant rapid mate that went to the trailer but you would have to purge the whole system each time after plugging the trailer in, and have firmware that accounts for the trailer and a setting for it to be plugged in (so the car knows)
