Conefagging

What does Veeky Forums think are some cheap cars for autocross/rallycross that aren't obvious stuff like a Miata?
Also conefagging general

Literally anything small and light

Here's some retro Brit 'cross just for fun.

>Oh hey, Bro!
>What's up?

A Fiat 125, sold the world over as Polski's, Ladas, Zastavas so parts are literally endless and the Fiat twincam is a fucking tank internally, the suspension is simple, basically the same as Fords of the day and easy to modify. Brakes don't need modifying other than decent pads, throw some Toyo R888's on and you've got a track beater which won't lay down.

Forgot pic.

Damn, I think the US might be the only place it would be hard to get one of those.
I was thinking a Chevy LUV (re-badged Isuzu Pup) would be fun. Super light, tail happy RWD and it's one of the few 70s-80s mini trucks you can still find RELATIVELY cheap if you know where to look.

Same 1600 as a Gemini?

EF Civic
2200 lbs stock
Endless aftermarket

IIRC it came with either a 1.8l or 2l derivative depending on the MY.
They're popular for bigger swaps, but the heavier engines spoil the handling so they're mostly used for drag racing.

Whilst I agree they can be brutally quick, imo things like autocross/superkhana driving is one of the few times I'll agree that rwd is more fun.

True but cheap, light RWDs are getting harder to come by (besides the Miata, obv)

...

I know, man. I miss my old Super Beetle something fierce and want to get another one but a decent turn-key driver is at least $5k these days.
I could buy a roller and rebuild it with newer Mexican parts but in the long run that's not much cheaper.

I guess technically I have rallycrossed
Volvo 240 auto
Ford zx2 escort manual
Mitsubishi mighty max auto
Volvo 240 wagon manual

My tire setup with the pickup was shit, the wagon was the most fun to race so far...

It's kinda expensive for a poorfag like me but fuck it it's racing.

Competition is competition my man and it's still fun as shit.

>ZX2
I feel like the ZX2 is kind of a forgotten car mostly because of the first gen Focus ZX3.
It's a decently quick shitbox for it's age and it's an Escort so you can whip it like a bad donkey and it'll keep going.
And they are DAMN cheap on Craigslist.

ford puma.
Literally the citizen cane of tight, twisty circuits

>no conefagging in country
>closest thing is go kart tracks time attack
>be me in hardest class, the group C, second lowest power class filled with weightless cars and ex race drivers
>take my MRS with broken clutch slave, overly wide wheels that hit wheel arches and stock jello suspension
>show up without practise
>place somewhere in lower middle of my class and entire day.
>upper middle of the class above
MRS is underrated god machine

I bought it for 250, raced it 6 times and sold it for 75.

Yes, damn they are cheap.
The golfs are a better platform though for fwd.

Punto GT

I've thought about getting a number beetle as a dedicated 'cross runner partly because they sell cheap and you can bolt on a lot of Golf/TT parts and partly just to be funny.
I'd definitely hack up the exhaust and call it the Fart Kart.

>number beetle
Hurp
*Nu Beetle

>tfw no conefagging in central europe

You have hillclimbs and rallying, shut up.

>Hillclimbs
I really want to buy a chunk of land in the river bluffs near me, cut out a dirt course and host hill climbs.
I'm sure it would be an nightmare getting insurance and keeping people off the track when there's not an event going on, though.

literally any small hatchback

much harder and expensive to get into

4th gen F-body. Cheap. Huge aftermarket

>tfw no conefagging in baltic
>tfw track time attack is 25-50 eur a day and its once a month
>tfw rally and ice track are even cheaper
>tfw only safety requirements are a car and a helmet

rally is cheap, buy a beater, all you need is a fire extinguisher and a helmet.

And maybe a roll cage

>Be poorfag fresh out of HS with a 240sx
>Decide to go conefagging
>Tech inspection passed, make a run
>Not the best, but get better with each run
>after 3 runs, my group is done and we break for lunch
>Next group is up, all of them friends of the club chairman with high priced cars
>If it's not a trailered miata, or a trailered CRX rrace car, it's a viper, a corvette or one guy with an NSX
>I have to watch the course
>They easily get 20 runs while I get 3
>Come back next month
>Same shit
>Beat the chairman's dad's C5 in my 240SX by 2 seconds
>They invalidate my run because i "Pulled the handbrake on a hairpin and that's against rules"
>chairman's buddy in the almost non-streetable E30 is putting on drift shows during lunch
>Kickstart a lifelong burning hatred of boomers then and there

Probably obvious, but E30.
>Massive and cheap aftermarket
>Shitloads of autox (and general) knowledge on the forums
