Motorcycle or Car if it's your only way of getting around? (I don't care about weather that much)

REEEE

Seriously? This is a bike thread. A bike, a duffel and two bungies.

>why-not-both.gif
depends on how much shit you have to carry around and if you'll frequently have passengers

I only know 2 v8-powered bikes, those being that one 500cc Guzzi and the Czech (or Polish, don't remember tbqh) 2000cc (2 R1 engines put together IIRC).

if you can't cook you'll get cuck'd

so no cars for you, you only ride?

Nobike newfag here.
I'm going go buy a Titan160 next week, any non meme information i should know that is not on the manual ?

And then there's this guy

Much of my life I had only a motorcycle. Now that I'm married, my wife has a car which I've driven a few times. She doesn't even like me to ride in it as a passenger, she says I get "cranky"

Honda a shit
no leter no piter

That's E. J. Potter, BTW. He's spent his life building V8 bikes.

Awesome information !
please grab your mousecord and choke yourself asap

What do you guys think of the desert sled? I just sold my old BMW and I'm looking for something that can do light off-road as well. I really like the looks of this bike.

oi hows the cb400f?

Someone would have tried if not for the rulefags of racing disallowing it

I went motorcycle only for a year on my FJ-09.

It's not bad except when it's hot. I live in Los Angeles and even lane splitting is miserable in the summer because you're getting cooked alive by running cars on either side of you.

The heaviest load I ever had to carry was a 50lbs bag of dog food, anything bigger and I doubt I would have been able to strap it to my bike.

Close calls happen everyday because you slowly start to get more and more frustrated at the idiocy of other drivers which led me to become almost reckless in traffic just to get away from idiot.
>There's no shortage of idiots

All in all, it's doable but requires some prepwork. What I mean by prepwork is like a job interview for example... I had to arrive like 1.5 hours early so I can go to the bathroom, change into my interview clothes and freshen up because it was 100F outside and if I had worn a suit on my bike I would have been sweaty af. So I had to park, change, go back outside to strap my shit to my bike, and then go back for the interview.

I'm posting from phone lol kys kiddo ;-)

fuck off

In that case eat the phone battery ;^)

TODAY!
Joining Seattleanon :^)

Good enough for light off road i.e gravel roads or easy trails but a bit too heavy if you want to step it up to more technical riding. I would have trouble pushing it because of the weight and the dread of fucking up a bike that expensive
I guess if your old BMW was an adv type bike and that weight it wouldn't bother you
It looks great in person

besides the interview part it doesn't sound that bad I think I'm gonna try it

How's life in southeast asia?

We're all westerners so we consider 500cc sport standards learner bikes.

Thoughts on a Suzuku S40 a first bike?

Fun choice IF you own other bikes.

>a first bike

What am I in for?

slow

It's an okay choice.

>alright mpg, but small gas tank

Pretty standard beginner cruiser.
I wish more manufacturers would make the switch to belts.

Wanting a bigger bike after 6 months.

Brazil, feels bad man

B-but I'm trading down from a bigger bike!

>not an XT 660
Venha

Explain.

Buy a used V Star 650 instead if you're dead set on a cruiser for your first bike.

Belts a shit
>Tiny pebble gets sucked into it? Pulley destroyed
>Tensioner is set wrong? snaps at the first bump
>Bike makes any amount of power? slips
>Need to get a new belt? Lol
Chains are much, much easier and shafts are more reliable
The only reason to want a belt is if you believe in some sort of American heritage

To be fair you can buy the 660's predecessor, a XT600E, for half of what that thing costs. And the 660 sure as hell isn't twice the bike.

>suzuki
It will never run right. Terrible choice

>block of wood under sidestand
classic

Would it be hard to fit a Ninja 250r engine ('08 on up) into an '07 frame?

Why tho?

Why invest so much into a Ninjette, though?

Well the one I bought is burning a shit ton of oil, has a violent sound at 6000k+ rpm, and has metal shavings collecting in the oil filter.
Good thing I only paid $300 for it...
It has 63k miles on it.

Because used engines and header pipes don't cost that much and I'm bored.

Rode co-workers Road Glide today. Pretty comfy and smooth riding. Memes aside I wouldn't hate riding one. Kinda want a Vrod though

Real talk, most (excluding sportsters) Harley bikes are comfy as fuck.

I've just changed the oil and the filter today. What is /dbt/ doing today?

Just gone done riding through some twisties in the hills near me.
Might flush the cooling system, as well as change the oil and filter later tonight too.

Harvested some batteries to make a battery for my kart, made cakes with the daycare kids and went shopping for some pedals and ended up buying a bass guitar

Would I get fucked by the system if I opened up a motorcycle repair business and undercut the dealers near me?

Just out of curiosity, which bass? I have a Fender jazz bass special and an amstd precision.

>not getting the 400

faster acceleration and better handling than the average sportscar
still going fast enough to get yourself into trouble
mushy, fading brakes getting you into trouble if the speed doesn't do it first
being laughed at by people who bought 600cc supersports for the same amount of money or less and enjoyed the same "learner-friendly" power by shifting up at 6000RPM
droning fart noises out the back end

get a 125

>get a 125
I fucking wish.
100mpg, literally pennies a month insurance, and could easily cruise at 65mph.
A shame that 125cc bikes aren't really street legal here in the US.

Probably not hard but I wouldn't, you've got an opportunity to do some real meme shit right now, like throw a 250 two stroke dirtbike motor in it, or a 650 single from an old dual sport. It'd be way harder but way funnier.

>File: Ninja 125.jpg (47 KB, 600x450)
no such thing exists

drivespark.com/two-wheelers/2017/kawasaki-nija-125-z-125-teased-024136.html

But it is not fun to restrain yourself at rpm, with the 300 you can redline all the time you want and you will be fine.
>for the same amount of money or less
if he buy use than he will buy it for less.
At least you don't euro 4 restrictions

get a 250 if you want to cruise at 65mph.
But you don't have that in America too, so get a 300

>they think about it
no such thing exists, as I said.

>Easily cruiser at 65mph.
Ask me how I know you have never ridden a 125.

>go past Honda dealership on the way home from work
>the groms are finally outside looking shiny

feels good

Wanna know how I know that you've never ridden one?

I pushed my grom to 70mph nigga

easily cruise is not PUSHING

Yeah, you've never ridden a small displacement bike.

Reminds me of all the idiots that told me that a ninja 250 couldn't do highway speeds.
>It's uncomfortable!
>The engine screams!
>You have to hold the throttle wide open to cruise comfortably!
Lies from people have never even tried it and started out on 600cc+ bikes because their fragile ego wouldn't allow anything smaller.

Why not just buy a newer bike? Or are you one of those 'anything new is bad' poorfags?

Some peole are always pushing. For them, pushing it IS easy cruising

Just swap a stock used engine. It's ludicrously easy

uh sweetie, I'm not but he's right
there's no other way on a 125

Want to know how I know that you've never ridden one?
I'll show you pic related.

And then tell you that 65MPH is not an easy cruising speed on 125cc. 40 was easy, 50 was mostly okay, 60 was hard, and 65 took a whole minute to get to from 60 and was only really achievable with favourable winds.

Compared to my CBR650F, which can do 65 in first gear, and will get itself up to 45 in that gear just pulling away from the lights if I'm not paying attention to how fast I'm going.

>willing to buy a used engine, new headers, and fabricate mounts if need be
>poorfag
Because it would be cheaper to swap out the engine than to buy a newer bike, plus it's fun to wrench on motorcycles. This isn't an money issue for me, just a personal choice.

I might, but I heard that the '08 newer generation of engines were tuned differently for better mid-range power. Thought it would be fun and worth it to at least try.

Psychological effect is preventing you from comfortably traveling at 65mph. I bet you're one of those riders that hate high rpm's because you're afraid that the engine is going to blow.

Alright fagguettes. I've decided to get a sena for my rf1200. What model is good for less than 250?

smh10r
it's good enough and doesn't get in the way like some of the big ass pieces

Is baka no longer filtered?

baka desu senpai

Nice. Thanks my dude.
