Sh could have a hammer jump to pole vault herself to farther spots or maybe a spin that has her float to ground slowly, quake to stun enemies. Just spit balling here but I would say give her more complex combat, that would be asking a lot though.

Hmm, I don't know if it would be a bit too complex to pull off honestly, at least with the right team. I know it's damn near impossible to make combat gameplay work with the Boost mechanic, but with the Adventure gameplay style, you could probably fit in some combat aspects if you were to fully use Amys hammer.

Been too long since I last played as her (since my Adv2 memory got wiped out & I had to start emerald collecting all over again), but I remember there being some complaints about how Amy in that game "was just another Sonic clone, instead of her unique gameplay from Advance 1."

In Advance 2 she's basically just a worse Sonic. She does curled jumps by default, has an ordinary Spin Dash, and all she doesn't have is the double-tap-forward air dash.

Funny enough, I played Amy in Sonic 1 yesterday. It's pretty fucking fun & I never knew Amy with her Advance moveset could compliment the Genesis level design so well
