hi I'm really surprised that this game has enough interest to support a general here

is it worth getting into?

The most fun use of this game is to build or create. Retexturing items, meshing products, making environments, scripting, etc. is all relatively fun, lets you learn some skills, and can make you a bit of side cash.
You can also explore, put together avatars with other peoples items, and take pictures/machinima.

I would not recommend SL if you don't think you'll enjoy the above. Being a welcome area troll is fun for approximately 10 minutes before you realize that everyone's heard those lines over and over. ERP is okay with friends but it's hard to find people GOOD at it because randoms have a tenuous grasp on English and don't usually have good avatars anyways.

A majority of the accounts being used at AFK sex places are duds, they're not real, they're just made to suck up a few hundred lindens every week for their mains. Also I have a feeling that most places are actually full of accounts operated by the sim's owner given the similarity between them (same bodies, same skins, etc)
