ive been driving this piece of shit 55mph down the major interstate for miles and miles i hope i slow you faggots down, hi !!!

okay do you guys hypermile or just pedal to the fucking metal all the time?

My student usually pushing 45 with half the tires in the shoulder. No problem here my man

Yeah I hate how all interstates are only one lane so there's no way to drive around other people

youtube.com/watch?v=Oe35mJZ1_4g&feature=youtu.be

what do you guys think of the central driving position of the Tesla semis?

It's retarded. It better be capable of angle backing on its own.

the semis are bristled with cameras and radar sensors. Those two fat screens in the cabin aren't just for porn you know

ever use a 360° camera system in a modern car? it's glorious

Ever see what mud or snow/ice does to cameras?

All the cameras in the world won't help you unless it has several on the back of the trailer and I haven't seen anything documenting such a thing. It would also mean you could only use special Tesla trailers as no other trailer has cameras preinstalled.

I thought that was implied. Isn't part of the battery bank trailer mounted?

you know... roads without potholes are infinitely more comfy than what is called 'road' in north america.
Especially dutch silky smooth asphalt concrete.

nope, it's all in the truck itself.

I don't understand your logic. There are cameras on the side mirrors. In fact, the reveal semis didn't even have mirrors, just cameras on long booms. Laws mean that they have to put mirrors on for highway driving (for now).

anyways, why are rear mounted cameras necessary if you don't have the ability to see back there to begin with? if anything, the boom mounted cameras are better than leaning out - they're further out that a human could stick their head out. Plus, the wide FOV side cameras and top-rear cameras just add to the ability to maneuver without needing to actually look anywhere but the two central screens

There's no way to infer that. It's extra dumb that they would further restrict the ability of the already severely neutered truck. It's bad enough that it's so expensive, but you have to use a special charging station and now you have to use special trailers? How do you they expect this to ever be viable?

>expensive
sub-175k per unit, with guaranteed 7c/kwh charging and 10E6 mile drivetrain guarantee is pretty darn good. Not to mention the lower maintenance and higher uphill speeds.

I thought that having some battery storage in the trailer was a thing with them. Withdrawn if not.

Why do retards like you insist on wanting to argue all the time?
>What do you think about this?
>I think it's dumb.
>no stop thinking that im right ur wrong reeee
You've never backed up a truck before. You wouldn't understand no matter how it was explained. You couldn't understand until you were actually backing up and you leaned your body out the window. No amount of cameras in the world can replicate that. The only thing the cameras could do is mitigate your chances of blindly backing into shit. But every driver is going to have to completely relearn how to back these things and it's not going to be easy.

Central freight is in your area. The yard a shit tho

>sub-175k per unit
Yeah, expensive. Not to mention there's to be any real world testing conducted or publicised confirming the claims of performance and maintenance.

My post was a question - "why" are cameras worse than leaning out. And then I showed why I think the opposite. Apparently the answer is "you wouldn't understand" or something like that? I honestly want to know, you know. never driven a truck in my life

yeah, the point is to be able to hook up to non-propitary trailers just like any other truck.

You know how sometimes when you're driving (I'm assuming you've driven a car before) and before you change lanes, you look over your shoulder? Now imagine driving a car with no side windows but instead you had cameras mounted where your side view mirror would, and a little tv on the dashboard. Would that be better than just looking out the window?

I daily a car without a right side mirror, I completely understand having to check before changing lanes. But, I also have experience driving cars with 360° parking cameras, and rear view cameras. They are much easier to use and safer, imo. You keep your head always facing forward - no momentary lapses of attention when turning your head. The same is likely true for the implementation of boom-mounted side mirror cameras that pipe directly into the rearview mirror / displays

lmao, on ramp acceleration is stupid quick

youtube.com/watch?v=4VIjFCJls30

>Empty trailer
Who cares.

See this is why I didn't feel like it was worth it to bother trying to explain. Like I said it's just not something you as a person are capable of understanding. It's inexplicable. If the cameras are just on the mirrors then it's completely worthless, they may as well not even be there. It would need several cameras projecting several angles from the actual back of the trailer. Which if they pull that off then sure that would be cool because the right side bumper is a nightmare for 53' box drivers everywhere. But even though the technology exists it's never been implemented on a large scale. Some companies have tried truck mounted cameras and those drivers will tell you it's a waste of money.

it's carrying packs from the gigafactory according to elon.
>or do you think he's lying?

interesting. Seems like an HCI problem more than anything

I'm just stirring the pot to be honest.

it's a big pot

Kek.

Sign says, “No idle, state code blah blah blah”. Cold af, can’t feel toes or use fingers. Wat do?

Set the brake, put in neutral, put weight on throttle.

You're not idling...

Seriously though, if it's that cold and someone gives you shit for it just be like "wtf, am I supposed to get frostbite, not to mention this thing won't start when it gets cold".

Fire the truck up and get some heat going. Better to get a fine than lose some fingers.

>gets same or better view as mirrors of current trucks
>IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH GOYIM

>He doesn't have an APU and a bunk heater
Sad.

Which would be fine if you ever used your driver side mirror while backing.

>tfw you're a dirty carbon carter

Hometime tomorrow bitches.

Charging stations will be millions each. Look it up, and the 7 cents is pure bullshit wishful thinking.

You wouldn't mind if someone took your big ass mirrors off, and installed screens a fraction of the size?

The jig is up. Today's hold message told us that the average take home pay for solo lease operators is only $1100/wk. You thought you could pretend to be a high roller without posting actual numbers but you've been sold out by your own team.
I petition to legally change primefag's name to $1100/wkfag.

the seven cents is guaranteed by Tesla. It's higher than most business rates anyways

Tons of government subsidies, are they profitable yet? Or are they still living on their stockmarket internet moniez?

not when lagging at an uphill and a bigrig decides to pass me at the crest of the hill but im now able to speed up as i start going downhill so me and the bigrig next to me are matching speeds for a mile with a long line of cars behind us, wooohooo

When did this happen at the safety meeting this morning??????????

What about this

Oh damn they aren't even trying to hide it. I need to call and get put on hold real quick

I keep calling all these different departments hoping to be put on hold but everyone keeps answering and I keep just hanging up

Haven't you seen a scrotum before?

No I'm not gay

Just obese, what is it like having a gock and never seeing your frank n beans?

We have them fitted to our road train fleet.
It makes connecting ringfeders a fucking joy to behold.

What we did was essentially use the three dead plugs on the harness to pass through video.
If someone connects to the harness, video is passed through to their monitor inside their cab.

That's cute.

Also, this was the week I dropped that trailer door before I went on Mass vacation and got a 34h reset in waiting to get it repaired, so I said F it, time waits for no man, on that second run I drove the trailer 330 miles from NH to our yard in Pittston PA to get repaired and get under some freight before the end of the week, so that .85cpm run at the end actually picked up in Allentown PA and went like 90 miles into Jersey and weighed like 5000lb so it worked out, still profited after all was said and done

Why did they advance you money four times

Drugs.

Lumpers, that first run was a 4-stopper LTL going through grocer warehouses in the NE that actually had no problems and I made all of the appointments on time without any delays from the receivers, that was a first for me

Intradasting it's like half the time the weeks are so bad you have to borrow money to survive.

I grossed 2,250 (would have been more if I actually turned any of my trips in on time and got the fuel bonus) and netted $1,800. Just got back to Springfield to test a student where I'll make another $1,175.

Your truck payments not that bad though I thought you were doing lease to own?? Isn't that like 1300 a week

For those who don't know anyone hauling Prime freight except for those on the advanced fleet I think, if you are running on Robert Low's DOT number you don't pay lumpers Prime does, so most drivers have the lumper fee placed on the advance side, written to Comchek and you get reimbursed on the same trip, I wished they would just go to express codes. Some of the places only accept express codes which Prime also does.

Lease to own is a little different, I've almost got enough saved up to convert it to what Prime calls Ace Lease which is lease to own, you put your money down which for me is going to be like 13000 then you pay on it until it's paid and you have a 100-dollar buy out.

All shitposting aside, Prime trainers can make bankroll as company drivers if they apply themselves and don't get dummy trainees which Prime usually weeds out in the first week before they even get on a truck

I hate people too much so I keep my truck to myself, but i'd probably make a decent trainer.

It's funny being on the pad and watching all the trainers screaming at their students and punching the side of the truck and throwing fits. You know those guys won't last.

I've passed six students since December so that's about two a month. I'm on track to gross about 85 or 90 thousand this year.

I'm doing even better recently because I figured out how to work the clocks better. I legally ran 3884 miles with my student last week on what is supposed to be one 70 hour clock. Feels good.

>Throwing fits
Disgusting.

Didn't you do training for a minute did you spend any time on the pad or just do TNT

I never was a driver trainer. I've given pointers to swampbros but they already had their licenses, and that was on the road stuff.

Start a small campfire in your truck.

Man so I know there's the whole "sure wish i finished training" joke but I saw this Swift guy who is like the most unprepared person I've ever seen in a truck. First off, the docks we're on are huge, there's enough room to pull up that you can turn real tight and get lined straight up, and they're at least 17' wide because you can open your doors after you're in your spot. So first, he has to get spotted to get in place (by the guy in the truck next to me, not his trainer or codriver our anything). But then he goes to open his doors and he can't get them open. He's struggling and yanking, and the random spotter guy has to get out again to open them. They were the type where you have to open both at the same time. Then to wrap it all up he used about 5 more pullups to get lined up on the dock. Now, it's not that I'm ragging on the guy for having trouble, yknow everyone has to start somewhere, but like how do you get a truck all to yourself and still be at that level? Doesn't Swift even train their drivers at all? The only thing I can think of is that maybe he used to be a flatbedder and just moved over, because then everything above makes perfect sense.

My first couple of weeks it probably took me 15 minutes to back into any dock. I think everyone does, but no one wants to admit it because everyone's a supertrucker making $500k a year on the internet.
