Which is a pain since Neptunia is pretty micro-intensive. If you want to try other characters than your usual team, you have to check their equipement, their combos, level them up (in VII), and then you can try a new team.
From a strategic point of view, a lot of characters are duplicate.

Because more characters is better in an action game. It's why the selling point of every Musou is "Now with more characters than ever before" It's why the main false advertising campaign with Fire Emblem Warriors is THE BIGGEST CAST EVER. It's something people want.

4go is not a musou. It is an action RPG. It is not another senran kagura clone.

Yeah, that's half the reason i dropped gekinoire.
The char number of the average nep game was kinda pushing it, but that one was just terrible, over double the amount of characters and every single one of them being shallow as fuck, i just couldn't take it anymore.
Also i finished the noire waifu bits so i pretty much accomplished what i set out to do

Well, for Noire's game, it makes sense.

She wants friends and nobody wants to be her friend, so CH had to bring new characters.

She's less spankable than K-Sha but I find her clumsy, naive personality adorable, in contradiction with her stealth ability.

I think the problem with GekiNoire characters is that there's almost nothing likeable about them. Getting backstabbed by them 2 times during the game doesn't help either.

Personalities are what make the characters interesting. If you have too many characters, you can't make them all interesting.

Some mangas and games try to make minor characters interesting, but it's always "I'm about to die, so let me tell you my backstory".

It's almost like having a bunch of walking cliches is a bad idea and having a small amount of well written unique characters with individual playstyles is a good one! Which 4GO does, and guess which game sold the best out of the franchise? Wow, who would have fucking thought.

Dragon quest isn't popular in the west because it was never localized very well until fairly recently. You can't develop a fanbase like final fantasy if you don't have the force of nostagia riding behind your franchise.

Completely agree. More characters is bad. It's one of the many reasons I hate other Tamsoft games like Senran Kagura so much. And thankfully 4GO fixed this.

Actually, only the Goddesses should be playable to begin with.

Just like they fucked up the scouts so you can't grind off those either, and you can only discover each dungeon once but they don't carryover to the other characters in gold so if you put all of your stock in the first character you do, you'll be having a bunch of scouts doing diddly fucking squat for the rest of the others.
