Taurus

Why do people hate this car so much? My mother's had two of them, gotten both over 100k miles, and had hardly any problems On her first, a 2003, the transmission had to be repaired once, and on her 2008 she had to replace the axle, and those are the only issues she's ever had with them.
They seem to be pretty reliable and the ride comfortability is god-tier. My mother went out and bought an Equus and gave the Taurus to my sister, and even though the Equus is supposed to be like a Korean 7-series, guess which of the two cars didn't have to be towed out of the snow on a mountain last winter? Hint: the Taurus did decently.

I have never seen anyone here shit talk on Taurus except for the two Honda spergs who shit the thread every time someone says they like something American produced.

Those are big repairs user. Our '04 WRX has over 100K miles and only needed one tie rod, and one ignition coil.

>100k miles
>hardly any problems
>transmission had to be repaired once

I think you answered your own question. Also fuck people who drive Cop cars.

Maybe I just like cars. Almost every car I see on the road piques my curiosity.

Is a transmission repair that bad? Don't Hondas (which are praised for their reliability) also often have transmission issues around 100k? At least, I know the Accord v6's and early 00 civics do. My sister's civic at 150 blew the engine because of a common factory radiator issue that apparently plagued all 01 civics.

>anecdotal argument
my ‘07 3 series with 135k has never needed anything besides coil packs

But I can agree with the second part, the one about cop cars. Especially people that drive them with the bull bars or have white sedans with roof racks.

I didn't think Veeky Forums hated the taurus. I'm a big fan of the last 5-8 year's interior. It's like a huge cockpit. Tons of space. Lots of visibility. The car is a tank too.

Unkillable Vulcan motor was slow as hell
Ugly as sin third gen
Transmissions liked to die halfway through engine life

Current SHO seems cool, but Ford should up the boost to compete with the Kia and other V6tt cars.

It wasn't an anecdotal argument. It was a comparison of what our car needed at a similar mileage. Tie rods and ignition coils are far smaller repairs than replacing transmissions and axles.

They are nice cars but the Chevy SS was better and the charger is better if you are looking for a fast one.

I’m sorry your WRX is so unreliable compared to my 335i, user.

Charger only offers AWD with 292hp
SS doesn’t at all

You realise that an ignition coil is a coil pack, right? That the same part failed on both of our cars, and cost like $20 to replace?

You totally missed his point

Yes a transmission repair is pretty bad on a car that new. Yes Honda's have fucking horrible transmissions. People here only recommend them because they're fucking idiots. I know Honda fanboys in my family who've been fucked on new Hondas with shitty transmissions.

>Taurus
>bull

No one here says they're unreliable (except for the memeboost). They're pigfat, suffer from shitty modern car design (high beltline, tiny windows), the back seat is smallest in segment which is the business end of a "full size" sedan. It's a mediocre car for mediocre people.

Auto only, FWD

>Yes Honda's have fucking horrible transmissions.
I have never heard anything about honda transmissions being bad

Honda autos = shit
Manuals = gud
No, seriously, the early 2000s and earlier auto trans they used were trash.

Though desu I have had good luck with both of my Hondas. One was an 04 Accord V6 that I bought at 207,000 miles and just gave to my cousin last weekend at 227,000 and my new Accord V6 I just bought at 103,500 is really good, too.
My sister's civic was bad, though

ok so low volume cars and the specific v6 accord from 2006

Honda has tons of line ups that aren't from that year. Ive watched that video and this isn't indicative of all honda manual transmissions at all, this isn't 2006 its 2018

AWD*

transverse so what's the fucking point. it'd be lighter, less complex (easier to work on), and it'd get better mpg if it were fwd only. add snow tires and it's 80% as good.

Only in SHO/police form, which almost none of them are.

The new ones are fucking massive grandma cars.

I have two experiences with Tauruses. First of all, it's my department's main patrol car. I don't know what model year design we have but it seems to be a mid size. Yes they're fast-ish, and that hissing noise the transmission makes when it shifts is sooo satisfying. I'm guessing that's only for the police interceptor package ones though. I don't have too many issues with the handling on that one, but like all patrol cars I don't expect them to last more than 5 years and ours are already having issues.

Next, I had to rent a car when mine was in the shop. Lo and behold the fag at the counter gives me a Taurus. I thought "sweet, I'm already used to driving it." But the Taurus he gave me was one of the new ones and my gods what a piece of shit it was. Yeah it's fast, that's just because they set the gears low. Other than that it felt bigger than my SUV, had a shit turn radius/shit handling, shit visibility, the back up camera wasn't bright enough and there was nothing blocking it from glare, every single button was in an odd, unnatural place, and I kept hitting fucking curbs and shit because it's impossible to see the dimensions even if you raise the seat all the way, and it's fucking long like an old grandma's Lincoln town and country.

Whoever engineers Fords is a fucking retard. I would never personally own one based on my experience with them. The crown vics and explorers are shit too.

Spounds like you need to learn how to drive u retard

They're not a very naturally drivable car. You'll be making concessions if you own one. One being the fact that you're driving a sedan, yet it handles like shit, when handling is one of the main reasons people get sedans. The second being you're getting less MPG than most newer crossovers, and for what? I don't see what makes it special. It's just a fucking Ford.

Considering Veeky Forums's stance on transmissions, I think it's a given to avoid automatic civics - especially ones from the early 2000's like everyone says. My brother and a friend both owned 7th gens and the slushboxes shit the bed before the odometer hit 150k

I said the same exact shit in another Taurus hate thread. On top of that, the biggest flaw with the new SHO is the ride quality. The suspension is stiff to compensate for the fuckhueg curb weight yet it still handles like horse shit while offering little comfort

I'm a hondaboi and I think these cars look nice. I don't know why you're blaming us when it could be anyone.

Most people don’t change the ATF in a timely manner.
