I think a distinction needs to be made between "hard" and "soft" savescumming. For example saving before you fight a battle to get a god dice roll is hard savescumming because you do it a lot and intend to exploit the game. Soft though is like restarting the whole entire war.

I'd say Spore is grand strategy when only considering it's scope. The spore galaxy has over 40k systems with visitable planets.
It actually feels like a galaxy unlike the galaxies generated in Stellaris.

Just got the Sinaasappel achievement. Started as Holland, got Austria and Denmark to help me make Burgundy fuck off, took Breda in the peace deal, formed the Netherlands, then colonised Suriname, Brazil, Luanda, Cape, Diego Garcia and Taiwan in that order.

All I'm saying is that it seems like a dumb choice of colours. I'd suggest red-white-blue pan-slavic colours, but it looks like those are already spent with the "Yugoslav Republic" there.

The red white blue combo was just as widely recognised with Tsarist Russia as the black yellow white was, neither is less inherently reactionary than the other. I believe you're making the mistake of viewing this through a modern lense, where the white blue red is the symbol of the Russian republic, but in the 18th century this wasn't the case, both were simply symbols of Russia and the Tsar.
