I know you're joking, but seriously, TD can't be saved with just new gacha, specially if it's one with characters who aren't the most popular. They need to restructure the entire game.

Might be trying to invoke the point-of-no-return model of placing limited OGs farther along into the game's projected future so that their established playerbase have no choice but to double down with how much they've invested already.
There's usually a sizable margin of players while still early on in the mobage's lifespan that would simply give up on the game after failing to get an equally early and time-limited gratification, but that margin decreases signficantly as time passes and more events have accumulated on an account.
