Get yourself an sn95 or newedge mustang, preferable new edge since they got a good amount of upgrades and better hp wise
I bought mine for 900 dollars and it’s treated me real well

why don't you go put in a 2500 dollar limit on craigslist and find out

Attached: 1497646049316.jpg (512x512, 50K)

Get a 94/95 mustang GT. They're super cheap and have the foxbody 5.0 for reliability and modability.

Don't get a v6. if you cant afford the v8, dont get a mustang.

People are missing the point. Try to get a Celica

Best 86-93 5spd 5.0 you can find.

No matter what, it will always be a RUSTANG and, even if you say it's not true, people will laugh at you behind your back accuse they know you are a fragile man-child and could not handle the truth.

These are the correct posts. Just keep in mind that they seriously eat gas OP. Also if you get an LX 5.0 insurance will rape you considerably less IIRC.

V8. DO NOT GET A V6!!!

You might be able to find an ok Fox 5.0 or an early SN95 4.6l.

Look for a salvage title car to get in the $2500 range. Good news is that parts are cheap

Either get an 87-93 Foxbody 5.0, 94-95 sn95 5.0, or 96-98 sn95 4.6l All are obtainable for 2500.
Do NOT get the auto, the auto trannys are shit.
DO NOT get a v6, you will hate yourself.
If you get a foxbody, be prepared to replace mostly everything rubber. This includes window seals.
I recommend the 94-95 for best reliabilty and resale value. The 96-98 are great cars with the 4.6l, but require more money to make faster at first, and need some necessary mods if still stock (like swapping the original intake for a 99-04 PI intake with the metal reinforcement to prevent cracking)

These cars are great fun, and super easy to work on and mod to make go fast, or handle twisties.

DO NOT BUY A SALVAGED TITLE. and good luck.

T. 97 mustang GT owner.

get a late probe gt

Get a Grand Marquis or a Crown Vic LX. Cheaper, safer, more reliable. For the money you've got, you're gonna either get a shitty V6 Mustang or a REALLY shitty V8.

My grandpa cars got laughed at in high school. Idc. It started every single time, it was cheap as shit, comfy and i owned 100% of it. I'm 20 now and my first car, a 99 Continental, is still on the road, my second, an 04 Marauder, was totaled by some dumb bitch texting and driving but only broke down once in the 3 years/45k i drove it.

You may not love it at first user, but when you have $$$ in the bank to buy other shit while everyone else is in debt fixing their shitheap BMW or needledick compensator pickups, you'll appreciate the fuck out of that car. Plus, for a few hundred bucks you can throw some glasspacks on that bitch and have it sounding mean as fuck (Which is what I did).

>don't get a really shitty v8
user, the cars you told him to get have the same "shitty" v8 only with even LESS power. I'm assuming op is not a basketball American or selling drugs out of the back, so why would you recommend vehicles with the same value-condition ratio as the mustangs?

In fact the mustangs may be in better condition, considering I got my 97 GT for 2000 and it even meets the same standards your marquis do. Starts every time, gives me no trouble, and gets weird looks from people. Getting the literal 4 door heavy as fuck version of the mustang would be a huge mistake. Hell any money put into those cars is lost, while he may be able to make some back with a Mustang.

Please get your head out of your ass before trying to fuck the OP over.

Aren't you late for the bus stop?

Assuming you're talking

Sn95 is your best bet. Foxes in that price range will be more headache than they're worth.

94 & 95 still had the 5.0 and tend to go for less than the later 4.6.

Also, shoot for hardtop, but convertibles tend to be more attainable in such a low price point.

Attached: 20180123_134411.jpg (682x1024, 481K)

Assuming you are in the US, these cars are cheapest and most plentiful in the Midwest and South. Im in TN and GA and have seen quite a few 94-95 5.0 cars around for relatively cheap. If you are up north, it would be well worth to head south/west and find a car with less/no rust, at a better price.

Also craigslist is your friend. Use it.

Find me a 2003+ V8 mustang with under 100k miles, for under $3000.

Sure, you can find some clapped out 200,000 mile clunker for $2000. But don't dissuade OP into thinking that's as reliable as a 10 year newer vehicle with half as many miles. The engine is reliable, but it's not fast, even in the mustang. Speed is negligible in both cars, your 97 GT would get smoked by basically every modern sedan unless you dumped serious cash into it, which OP doesn't have. So it boils back down to two things - reliability and value.

A $2500 mustang is either a V6 abomination or a high-milage 20 year old V8. $2500 gets you a decent Grand Marquis with low miles made in the early 2000s.

Please get your head out of your ass before trying to fuck the OP over.

Your grandpa wouldn't be very happy with your logic or your tone, user.

The ford 302 is insanely reliable for many, many miles as long as its been at least half assed maintained. The 4.6l is near bulletproof, which you should know if you ever actually owned one of these vehicles. This includes a grand marquis.
and what the fuck do you mean "serious money" I got my 97 with a full PI swap H/C/I. I can beat any stock new edge from 1999-2004.

OP wants fun, rwd, v8 thats relatively light. Your grand marquis is a niggermobile with the SAME engine, nearly the SAME miles for MORE money with 1,000 more lbs.

So for your two major factors, reliability and value, the mustang EXCEEDS reliability which your marquis will as well. For value, the Marquis are actively LOSING value. A fucking 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis will NEVER be worth more than you paid. Look at a fucking craigslist sometime. Not to mention the markets for these cars are different all over the U.S. seeNow get back on your bus and stop lying to the OP.

>97 GT
>Ford 302
Kek

That's cute user, except the 4.6L 2v is a 289. The 302 was phased out in favor of the 289. For someone LARPing as a car guru you really don't know your shit.

> nearly the SAME miles for MORE money

Kek again. Find a 60k mile V8 Mustang and a 60k mile MGM on your local CL and get back to me. Just flat out wrong on every account.

>Marquis are actively LOSING value

As is any mustang made past the foxbodies, aside from limited editions like the Termi or GT1000s. Your GT (Which I doubt even exists at this point) will likely never be worth what it'll cost you to maintain in your lifetime.

You must have brain damage.

4.6L 2v is a 281*

My '95 got 19mpg but that was mostly highway driving

nigga, you dont think I know what size my own engine is? If you looked at my fucking posts again Im talking about the 94-95 cars that have the fucking 302 5.0. then I CLEARLY switch to talking about the 4.6l cars, you dyslexic fuck. Would you like a timestamp with my car?

Nothing like losing to facts and pulling out "i..its a LARP"

Im not saying OP will get a low mileage car, and why should he EXPECT one. It just isnt going to happen. Find me a Grand Marquis with 60k you fucking tard.

Go ahead and test my fucking knowledge on this shit.

I didn't read Side note, pic related. You are simply flat out wrong on every account.

Two results under 4k for the MGM, and I'm sure if you offered $3200 for the red one and the light blue one listed at 4, they'd sell them.

Whole lotta $2000 V8s on there I see...Zero? You can finance a couple, or get that clapped out V6 for $3500. I don't see any GTs on there though.

see Cheaper for less miles with an exception for each car.

Looks like you just live in a shitty market for them. I've bought two panthers in the past 5 years below $3000 and 70k miles. I got my 04 MGM for $2000 with 62k on the clock and my 03 Town Car for $3000 with 68k on the clock. I got my sister an 05 CV LX for $2800 as well. I've got the receipt for both somewhere but I'm not gonna bother. My marauder was significantly more but it's also a collectors vehicle that was trending upwards in price before it was hit.

I also live in New England however, so the market is a little different because idiots can't figure out RWD in the snow.

The marauder would be an awesome choice, but sadly its too far out of the OP's budget.

It looks like you are in a bad market for mustangs as well. I have no hate for the vics, marquis, town cars etc either. It's just the OP said Mustang and that is my niche. Those are some badass deals you got though user.

Dude, I bought my fox for 2900 two years ago and it survived a cross country trip with no added/repaired parts. 2500 is totally doable.
