I'm white

stop being a fag and sell the pile of shit you call a car sitting on your parents drive way

because I drive God's God's car

never

cos e36 is better looking

I am not a Turk

i am.

The E46 is good, but it's hardly "god-tier". Generally speaking, good driving fun for the money, and a superb platform for learning car mechanics, on account of the amount of resources online.

>more complex, uglier, unreliable and heaver E36
"""""gods car"""""

Because I fix them for a living and therefore know better.

Attached: curb contact.webm (1280x720, 1.48M)

>uglier
this is the only wrong thing in your statement

because everyone has two, its slow and cant turn worth shit and is overweight.
Id own one if i liked german cars as a drift missile but i dont.

but I do own one m8

Attached: e46-320i-vorn-mod-9751.jpg (800x600, 149K)

pic rel is not mine but exactly the same

Is this an AMC pacer?

an m sport model can turn very well though.
There is a reason GM engineers used the E46 chassis as a benchmark.

tfw e46

Attached: image_123986672.jpg (3024x3024, 1.63M)

No it's a Bedford Rascal

I'm in college and need something reliable

the cooling systems are the biggest problems on old bmws but once thats taken care of theyre pretty damn reliable. the engine is bulletproof. also the connection you feel to the road is far more supreme than the modern floaty, bouncy suspension new cars have

I own one. 320d is fucking slow and expensive to repair. But I feel fucking good sitting in it.
>tfw always goes apeshit with plus temperatures
fucking GM5 comfort module

Attached: 1399702972446.png (334x243, 48K)

I mean central lock in early spring

yah, the GM5 moduel. The weak subframe mounts. The weak front coilover struts. The vanos seals, the meme parking brake. The E46 is getting old, and it's no car to regulary take to the workshop. But I enjoy it immensly.

Attached: e46 drum braek.png (870x1289, 2.66M)

Thats a cracking subframe youve got there, user!

Since this is an E46 threar already up, what is the opinion on the silver rings on the gauge cluster?

Attached: e46 silver ring.jpg (800x800, 71K)

bottom is clearly better.

>The weak subframe mounts.
Yeah, I checked mine in December and it seems, that someone or BMW did weld this shit back in the day.
>picrelated
there are like $50 repair kits for this.

A bit ricey, but I like it.

Also, got them on my m3, dunno if it's stock though.

Attached: 47.jpg (2080x1560, 537K)

not compared to lightweight well handling cars.
Its a good car for getting a rwd on dirt cheap with lots of aftermarket but unless its an M or tuned to shit tis slow piece of shit.
But I guess everything european seems fast in amerifat land where a truck is considered fast and agile.

Would e39 M5 be a good purchase?

looks a bit tacky and too self indulgent for my tastes. the bottom is simple and clean.

yes

compared to what? a miata or s2000? well no shit sherlock the base model 3 series is supposed to be a daily drivable luxury commuter with sporty handling characteristics it was never intended to be a race car.
the point still stands the e46 chassis is extremely well engineered as proven by the e46 m3.

slow ass 325i reporting.

oil pan gasket leak :-DDD

Attached: photo.jpg (2517x1425, 3.39M)

Yes compared to those.
It cant keep up even in slgiht twisties to NA mr2's and a leon cupra.
You are foolish to think M3 is anything like an non M version just like type R civic is a completely different animal from a stock civic.
As I said bimmers are not bad for dirt cheap entry into rwd world but M models are the real deal.

Also stripped e30 with coilovers is god damned impressive.

I still never want to own a bimmer.

Maybe z4.

and by not bad I mean great

but most bimmerfags seem to be convinced their euro luxolandbarges are some kind of supercars while they do one whele donuts

M3 is nothing like a non M version but you can build a non-M E46 to handle like the M3 for relatiely cheap. Start by stripping the interior, add coilovers and LSD and you already have a extremely well handling car.

but it's true, the E46 lost the boxy appeal, has those stupid semicircles on the bottom of the headlights, and just doesn't have the same flair

Different strokes for different folks xd

>Facelift
shitlift

almost all sedans are facelift, and the pre-facelift models are more prone to subframe cracks.

plus facelift looks better faggot

fair enough. I cut off taste at the E90, E46 is still a great car

>almost all sedans are facelift
no
>pre-facelift models are more prone to subframe cracks.
only if neglected
>plus facelift looks better faggot
youre so fucking wrong

I must somewhat agree. facelift e46 looks more famine in my opinion.
The worst offender in my e46 are old front window guides (51338266123 and 51338266124). They are so old that it feels like glass going to break when driven on uneven terrain. And this shit is fucking expensive. But nothing that picrelated cant handle for few months.
But damn smaller car would be more practical for me in everyday use. Should have bought a Twingo

Attached: sonax_sztyft_do_uszczelek_gumowych_1,w_360,_small.jpg (360x360, 11K)

because to everyone but arabs and chinks (who work in cell phone shops) it's an old bmw because you can't afford a new one.

Yes. I removed the rings a long time ago. I find it strange anyone would even put them in.

There is also the trunk lid button not working due to the green death. Easy fix tho.

Attached: e46 trunk switch.png (982x987, 1.87M)

because rodgemobile is better

I have the opportunity of buying an e46

2000 328ci
115k on odo

is 2,500 usd too much?
What can I expect to get myself Into?
Never owned anything German.

price is okay depending on how well it was maintained. Check for rear subframe issues and ask the owner if he got it reinforced. Also to be safe replace the coolant expansion tank as soon as you get it.

I was always wandering. Is the coolant expansion tank issue common for petrol engines only or for all e46?

I'm not all that big on the 3 series. I drive an E38 750 right now and don't see any need to go to a 3 series from my barge.

never heard of the problem on diesel engines, but can't guarantee it

Well yeah, you can;t guarantee anything in 19yo diesel car heh.
Im jelly of you Americans for additional harnesses in your E46 and that plastic thingies in the trunk

robi stop shitposting and go back to suramulas napiri gotta beat up unamuso bavshvebi tommorow

bcuz im not a chainsmoking eurocuck who hates america but moves there anyways bcuz "muh freedom"

I just wish it was a 330 instead of a 318

this

I got bored of my daily and bought an E46 about 5 months ago and I regret it tremendously.

Why?

My other car isn't in the best health so I bought a cheap daily thinking I wouldn't get bored. I did get bored and bought an E46 and it's constantly got something wrong with it. I want to sell it but can't do it knowing that whoever buys it will be getting a shitter. The only redeeming thing is that the engine is running flawlessly. I've also reached the point where if I sell it, I've spent shit loads fixing it just to pass it on and possibly inherit someone elses problems if I buy another car.

I'm also just bored of it but that's probably my fault for not accepting that my daily will have to be a boring car.

feels bad man, just junk it and drive a corolla for two years for your sins.

I'm almost done fixing it up properly. I'll probably sell it next year to fund my engine rebuild and buy something terrible.

++ On the vs-xx that is godtier.

Yeah it's original paint, I only do around 3k miles a year though.

Really considering getting a E46 M3 as well.

What about an M5? BMW-let here

The daddy of super saloons. What about it?

But I am driving god's car.
These winter wheels look pretty bad tho. Got style 287 wheels from e9x series for summer and they fit the car really well.

Attached: 20180313_122510.jpg (3200x2025, 3.29M)

>lives in snowy area
>pre facelift e46 with no rust
How is this possible

No, nothing. In the future I might consider getting one as DD

garage inc

Well it had some minor rust repair done last summer but honestly it wasn't bad at all considering it's age and the fact it gets driven during the winter too. Maybe washing it regularly has been the key to keeping it good.

You do it yourself?

Washing? Yes. Rust repair? No. I let my uncle take care of that since he has been doing car body repair for over 20 years.

That is really clean, nice car m8. Mine needs the rear arches done soon, looks ok for 150k though

Attached: IMAG0034.jpg (2688x1520, 1.3M)

How do I check if an e46 is in good condition?
Found a 3.0 diesel one with 200k km for 3200 euro.
I know the engine is strong and can live a long time but if its not well maintained it could cause me problems and money right? obv dont want that.
Should I go inspect it myself? idk anything about cars just know how to drive them. Can you teach me what to look for or how to check it or do i just pay a mechanic to check it for me?
link related sorry for the language

it looks ok in the pics.
check for noises in the suspension and body defects

problem with that shit site is that it resizes everything i cant even zoom in
so i just drive it and look for strange noises?

I can't pick it up until the weekend, that's why.

not a roach

t. roach

good thread!

redpill me on bmw

yup and look out for no excessive smoke (some black smoke is ok) and listen to the engine as well.

rwd manual straight six good looking car for cheap. teaches you how to do car repair and its easy to work on because longitudinal inline engine. extensive online resources on any problem it could have. they have lots of features compared to similarly-priced japanese shitboxes.

Attached: e46.png (1920x1440, 3.14M)

>tfw changed $10 gear shift knob for $5 one because it falls off when going into 2nd gear
