That's not obscure user.

It is in my country :/ They're kinda rare and super hated over here lmao

a tiny little v6

I have one, with a nice exhaust setup it sounds fucking fantastic.

You can get the v6 model for like $1000 too nowadays

youtube.com/watch?v=KVtxQmHE030&t=11s

1.8 V6 screams.

They are incredibly rare now in Canada because they've rusted to death. They were the $500 shitbox in the early 2000s and they just don't exist outside of very well kept I no wat I got status

Is it reliable? Thinking of getting one..

Yeah RIP the prices, some good ones still

Havent had any issues so far, the calipers were seized when I purchased but nothing bad.

Some bits are hard to get, but most parts are on some other mazda model of sorts so not bad. Only suspension bits were expensive and the calipers. (Both exclusive to mx3)

I might own the cleanest V6 GS manual in the Midwest if not the entire US

93 with 32k miles bone stock (actual picture)

Attached: mx3.jpg (960x720, 132K)

That's a beaut

Why is Mazda so good at making liftbacks? This, the FC, and of course the FD all look phenomenal in my opinion.

>>obscure shitboxes

Toyota Sera, hands down.

there is a JDM dealer nearby that has an absolute pristine one with less than 30k miles on it and brand new down hinge hardware for $8k, its so tempting but so stupid at the same time.

Attached: hapn7akqxgjdtjbjyur0.jpg (800x450, 85K)

Reliant scimitar ss1
>Is basically a horribly made British mx5 with a fibreglass body
>Has either a ford fiesta engine or nissan turbo
>Weird popup headlights that don't hide the bulb
>Very weird angular styling, like an appliance or refrigeration machine.

>so tempting but so stupid
I know what you feel
>looks like spaceship
>fwd
>these doors
>solid rear axle
>those seats and interior
>questionable body rigidity
God this car is a mess but still epic
buy it

You can't fool me dude that's a Fiero.

Subaru XT

Engine in front though

Attached: IMG_0205.jpg_original.jpg (1024x768, 198K)

Good friend of mine has one. (UK) his is gold and he's fitted a turbo to it, added launch control and welded the diff.
Took it drifting and hit a pothole in the track. Broke the suspension.

id rather have an SVX. wouldnt really consider it a shitbox even though most of them can be had for less than $5000.

Attached: 00505_b9Vdr5ff1nD_1200x900.jpg (1200x800, 196K)

I wonder if he could swap in a beam axle from a scimitar gte or whatever ford it's probably taken from (Capri maybe). Independent suspension is probably weaker than a beam as far as sliding into things is concerned

the interior isnt even that bad, just basic early 90s Asian plastic. there were much worse interiors in US cars back in 1991.

also the rear seats flip down and that huge rear hatch makes it surprisingly functional.

I didn't meant bad
I love it
this car is visually perfect
It's the starlet underneath what doesn't make sense

Attached: maxresdefault (1).jpg (1280x720, 54K)

holy fuckin shit!
just look at it!
This is one piece!
It's amazing!

Attached: holy shit.jpg (1600x1200, 641K)

i say this every time i see one but i'd eat a newborn in front of its mother for a 6-speed swapped SVX. too bad i'm too incompetent for that kind of work.

Attached: 1411399748940.png (512x512, 278K)

well i dont need another car, especially not a early-90s Japanese shitbox.

actually i just looked and the 1991 Sera they have has only 11,000 miles on it and looks pretty much perfect.

Attached: 957180405.jpg (800x600, 80K)

im sure you could get some Subaru specialist shop to do it for you. $10k will get you a SVX in good condition and cover all the work needed for the transmission swap.

Translator's note: it's obscure in burgerland because nobody knows what the fuck a Holden is.

Attached: download (2).jpg (1500x929, 295K)

Absolute shitbox but amazing GM shitbox.

Attached: 004-3.jpg (1600x1200, 458K)

That's so cute

isn't it kinda easy to swap a 2.5 or whatever v6 in it?

Yeah, the KL-DE from the Probe or MX-6 or the KL-ZE from the JDM MX-6 is externally identical and bolts right in.

but why?
Isn't having the smallest V6 ever the point?

Yes and no.

I'm keeping the 1.8 K8 in mine because poor and I love the way it sounds.

On the other hand, 200+HP in a 2500lbs little coupe that handles great out of the box has to be fun.

>rare
>super hated
What? If its rare - no one drives it and no one knows it - how can someone hate it?

There are like 2 for sale in my state, and every mechanic I've talked to says they're horrible and slow and rusty

Wtf, taillights are exactly like those on 323F

Attached: 1990_Mazda_323_(BG)_Astina_5-door_hatchback_(27802134916).jpg (1024x683, 190K)

Slow kinda

Rusty yes if you drive it in salt

Horrible? No. They arent exactly unreliable and its easy enough to work on

Poor Man’s 911 from the U.S. of A.

Me too desu. Shame all of them disappeared as soon as 21st century hit.

Dont forget escort zx2

Didn't get those in Europe so yeah I forgot, another variant of the 323
Ford Probe and Cougar too, based on the 626/MX-6 and Mondeo respectively

Attached: 1985-1989-Merkur-XR4TI-front-three-quarters-promo.jpg (660x438, 19K)

Yep. All cheap fun shitboxes

Top 10 gm designs of all time

Attached: White_Pontiac_Grand_Prix.jpg (1016x762, 203K)

zx2 was a bag of dicks.

Not quite. Look again.

Id rather want a V6 Lantis whaletail

Attached: 12264844.jpg (800x653, 71K)

And to complete the circle

Honorable mention: Isuzu Impulse

Nice!

>LQ1
>amazing

Amazing it still runs. Those things were garbage. How many door handles have you snapped off?

Agreed.

Shit but I want one of these bad to swap a duratec and MTX-75 into.

Attached: 1984-Ford-EXP-Postcard-01-628x356.jpg (628x356, 50K)

I’ve owned two of these....

A 94 GTP and a 90 Turbo.

The 94 has the most garbage cheap shit interior out of any car I’ve ever driven or ridden in since including Korean shit. The 90 had a cool interior but would would Nickle and dime you with shit. But the 94 was just flimsy like it was only supposed to be a temporary dashboard until the real interior arrived.

The 94 facelift also looks like shit. Bloated and too rounded. The original W coupes looked better new, and they aged better.

I mean I'd honestly prefer a Quad 4 Beretta. But I have a weird fondness for this thing as well.

Attached: Quad 442.jpg (640x480, 72K)

I had an Infiniti G20.

Pretty rare today. Especially the P10 first gen. Back then they didn’t stand out well. Often mistaken as a Sentra or corolla. But they had a great multilink suspension, SR20De motor. Good shifter. And were built very very well. They were not luxury but the doors and trunk closed with a thunk like a Mercedes 190 or c class of the time. Basically peak Japan trying to build a economy car it using higher end parts and assembly.

You could even get the win it’s a limited diff. I think they revved to well past 8000rpm on pre 94 models. And you could swap in sr20det, vet, or just do a bolt on turbo kit for little money and work.

I had a 93 with cams a good tune and IHE and made almost 200hp, and it moved pretty damn good. It wasn’t a drag racer, but it was a great, solid car to drive in the mountain roads and gave you tons of feedback. Definitely felt more European than a jap car.

Also for some reason Euros hate these things. I think they all got the UK built version made to a much lower spec than the Japanese built cars the US got. I had no complaints at all. It felt like a 4dr integra gsr with a bit more weight and solidity to it.

Attached: C9870B94-AFD4-486C-BFE7-14DA243A5E10.jpg (736x491, 81K)

190hp out of a four was pretty damn good back then

I was always confused why these were not at the local illegal cruises and races when import tuning was at its peak back in 1999-2004... I mean they had 190hp and everyone was blowing themselves over the integra type R making 190hp.

But then again, the dc2 motor was half a liter smaller, the car actually handled, and shit didn’t randomly fall off, blow up, or fail because it wasn’t a garbage GM car.

When I was in college, a guy in my dorm had an achieva scx. He hated it. Looked cool tho

Hey! You just pointed out every senseless argument against rotary powered vehicles! Nice job!

Attached: Thumbs Up.gif (141x141, 481K)

Quad four is a great engine, even in it's lame LD9 form and it sounds fantastic uncorked
Raced one in a Grand Am in a few enduros and It would hang with the v6's in the straights no problem even if it burned more oil than gas.

Attached: IMG_20161201_115130095.jpg (4320x2432, 3.38M)

They were junk that is why they are all gone

Look at the squirrel nest you posted

Match and point

user, I'm about to flip a tit. I found a showroom condition svx near me and I'm gonna go for it. It looks great man. I just got this jubilation within me!

They sure as fuck like oil and don't like heat. Still better than a 3100 in my book.

This huehue pos that i'll never have.

Attached: Puma GTB S1.jpg (640x480, 221K)

>Dodge Daytona

Chrysler's in-house attempt to make an American import killer, with a 4 cylinder turbo fwd drivetrain, yes there is a manual.

They used to be pretty common, but their common-ness and rep for cheap horsepower caused them to litterally be driven to near extinction by teenagers in the late 90s to mid 00s. Now no one remembers them besides random Gen Xer types that walk past mine at car shows and say "I used to had one of those". It happens weirdly often.

Also had options for T-tops, louvers, and a digital dash.

Attached: datona1.jpg (280x162, 17K)

how much does a "showroom condition" SVX go for? is it an early 1992 model or one of the later ones? whats the color combination?

this one looked to be in pretty good condition and was a JDM Alcyone listed for before it was sold $7500, which sounds pretty reasonable for what it was.

Attached: 00b0b_fpStnReQ0qh_1200x900.jpg (1200x800, 184K)

ausfag here
thank you based americlap
unfortunately they're becoming rare here these days

Seattle? There's a couple for sale right now.

GLS Tempo with a Vulcan and a 5sp.

Attached: 1992-ford-tempo-rearside_fotmpcpegls923.jpg (640x480, 33K)

The 2-door Tempo Sport GL as my first car. Fucking loved that thing, the 2-door was so much nicer looking than the 4 door. I just had the 2.3l four banger but it had a buttery smooth 5-speed and it was pretty fun to thrash.

Jelly as fuck. My first car was a 94 2 door I bought for $200. It permanently left a soft spot for Tempo's and Topaz's in my heart. Ended up destroying it in the woods like any 14 year old would do.

Attached: S5000761-1.jpg (1024x768, 312K)

when you gonna stance it brah? looks gey as fuck

were these what became of the fwd miata concept?

>calling 323F a Lantis
disgrace

Look's like some bandits car. I like it.
youtube.com/watch?v=wOvvpGb_FMQ

Used to own of these little cars, was slow as sin but got it cheap. I don't see them for sale much anymore.

Attached: geo-storm.jpg (1920x1080, 664K)

I love it mostly cause of that design and that fucking tiny 1.8l v6, the smallest production v6 ever made.
Fucking mazda always being amazing

I know that feel user, I unironically love the MX-6. I wish more than anything they were RWD. I swear if they were RWD they'd be infinitely more popular, since they're genuinely nice looking little cars.

Attached: 1259167124_tuning-mazda-mx6-9.jpg (1023x680, 130K)

Looks like someone left a 944 in the sun for too long

We got g20ts in the US, I still see them around once in awhile.

Hey my gf owns this car!

if it were rwd itd compete with s chassis
I mean fwd can be niec but its a bit heavy to bee a good fwd

>Manta, Capri, Corrado, Puma
>shitbox-based coupes
Fuck off, fuck off. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Attached: 78ed837711bf84b19882e2fc8fc4761f.jpg (564x423, 60K)

Because it was an American shitbox that could corner. I drove my dad's before he swapped the ls1 into it and it took corners like a champ. After the swap it just never felt the same.

>JDM spec
>says Lantis right on the print

Dumb euronigger.

Attached: 1242283629_73.jpg (1076x1075, 185K)

Probes are somewhat popular despite being FWD and so are Hondas, Celicas and even Eclipses.

>>Scirocco
It's not dead user, pic related.
It was just never sold at the US. You could import one from good old Germany.

Attached: 2008 Volkswagen Scirocco 1920x1440_2137.jpg (1920x1440, 552K)

Woah never noticed that
Thats pretty cool

Look at the pain in its eyes

These things were fucking amazing from what I have read, you could drop and SR20DET into it too.

They killed it last year
thedrive.com/sheetmetal/15084/the-volkswagen-scirocco-is-dead-again

>Capri

>Corrado

On its own separate chassis for both generations, granted

Rust killed so many of them.

they did kind of fly under the radar, it doesn't help that most of what the Quad 4 was offered in were all seen as 'The car your grand mother drove' the spoortiest being probably Beretta or the Grand Am's, but they were still obviously old at the point of the late 90s GM. In addition to everything you said.

That said the Beretta GTZ was said to be decent handling but who knows if that was 80s American auto journo's shilling GM. Plus it'd be nowhere near the ITR.

almost bought one with 100k on it for $3k last month

Mine never had any. I owned it for four winters in New England, and it spent its first 11 years in NJ, and a few years in Florida in between.

It did suck ass in the snow though.

Maybe it as treated for rust when new. For some reason my CRV refuses to rust in the common rust spots as well.

You’re full of shit.

W bodies don’t handle. The wallow sloppily on McDonald’s struts and a shitty rear leaf spring from a 19th century horse buggy, and understeer dangerously at any speed, and hardly stop on their shitty brakes.

And your dad never put an Ls1 into a z34 either.

Not to mention an LS1 would probably make it handle better since an LQ1 is physically and needlessly massive and tall where an aluminum Ls1 is low and lightweight.

>McDonald’s struts
