That shit happened to me twice while I was rerolling the 2nd mission and the only way I managed to get past it is rolling a "defend the transmitter" mission where you have much more time. I fucking knew this would happen. Fuck mission timers. That's why that +2 turns order is a must.

How does Ever Vigilant interact with a sharpshooter's weapons? Does he go on long watch or just pistol overwatch?

I have some serious issues here and i played Xcom classic, xcom: terror from the deep, Xcom1, Xcom LW, finished Xcom2 vanilla recently. This shit is on a new level of artificial difficulty. When Mechs and Mutons appeared my whole squad is just getting 1 shoted, even if i manage a perfect setup from concealment, my weapons do no damage. Explosives tier 1 are a joke. Never mind miss chances, even if 100% hit that would maybe take down a mech and a muton barely, the rest just 1 shots everybody and then the champion appears. It's unbelievably hard, i had to miss some crucial research or was too slow with the progress, i don't know. Any one has issues like this ?

I'm gonna go on a limb and say pistol overwatch since when I use Aid protocol threat assessment they go on pistol.

I agree tier 1 grenades are terrible - maybe you are behind on some research. I believe the muton unlocks plasma grenades, may want to prioritize that.

Before I had those, I always took shredder on my grenadiers and took at least 2 to try to get enough armor shredding going on. A point blank blast from a ranger's shotgun can also often overwhelm muton/mec armor.

I always restart Gatecrasher if I get a Templar.
Its nothing personal, they just feel really weird to have that early into the game when shit is still so conventional otherwise.

They're extremely good in the early game when you can oneshot Pectoids and Troopers with Rend and fall off during the midgame unless you get Bladestorm & Reaper. I haven't tried them in the lategame yet.

So I've been playing commander Honestman and I'm nearly done.
All in all, 10/10, very fun. I'm sure there is some unbalanced stuff, and who knows what it's like on Legendary (I'll fine out soon), but I know I had lots of fun with all the new mechanics.
I was really surprised that the New classes seem to be early game power houses, and then fall off, where the buffed vanilla classes with perks from both sides of the tree take over.
Grenadiers somehow are even more gods of death. Salvo + bonus explosive damage + holo-targetting + chainshot means they fire a nade and then can instantly kill a big enemy with chainshot. Early game they are weaker when they can't shoot very well and the lost are an issue, but then you hit tracer rounds + perception pcs + holo-targetting + scopes and they just never miss.
Psi-Ops are even stronger because they level even faster than everyone else and still kick ADVENT's shit in with all their guaranteed abilities.

Specialists feel better, but they still only really shine in tight situations when things are going to shit, so they still are only really good for the objectives, but even then, Reapers can help you get to objectives really quick.
Surprisingly enough, despite their poor damage, it seem like reapers are the only special class to not fall off. This is because their godlike stelath never stops being good, and the ranger was your vanilla spotter, but reapers do it ten times better, while still being able to blow up shit and shoot people, all while still concealed.
I have found myself not using rangers much, since grenadier gunners deal just as much single target damage with chainshot.
Skirmishers never felt excellent beyond early game. I think that's because you have to shove them into crazy situations to get the most of their abilities, but you don't really want to be doing that in the first place.
Marksmen earn their place early clearing out the Lost and then scale pretty well into late game.

May sound like a copout, but the game plays differently because of how everything works togther. Fatigue/Tired changes up the entire game, the new classes are early game power-houses, Lost are actually mechanially fun zombies, so many mission types you are still getting "first time" mission prompts in mid game, Chosen actually fuck stuff up, all the new map environments, the Resistance ops, etc. etc. ect.
Oh and the Photo booth is just very fun.
