Kia Soul

Thoughts on the Kia Soul

Meh. A car for fat people

What if I'm not fat. Lots of review said the suspension blows and tends to not handle deep turns well.

mediocre car for mediocre people.

Literally every one of these cars I encounter on the road is driven by a fat shit human trash piece of shit that doesnt know how to drive

I've started associating this car with the "I cant drive but someone gave me money and a drivers license so I bought this car" demographic. It's usually women behind the wheel of these too, come to think of it.

Fine as a commuter. Ugly. Fuel efficienct. Uncomfortable. Sounds like shit. Kinda like a 2008 focus

Shit car that will be forgotten in 15 years.

very nice satanic trips

Great for old people and fat people. Decent interior for the price. 5/10 by my standards tho.

XD

Kia's best selling car in the states IIRC. The last of the cube cars from the Cube Wars where it fought against the Scion XB and Nissan Cube. The Soul is aimed at the market demographic that adopted the XB and destroyed Scion's reputation, boomers and older Gen Xers. Even though Kia marketed this car as a cheap but practical rover for the under 30 crowd to shove all your stoner friends in, (and to be fair I've seen exactly one being driven by that group) you will be hard pressed to see anyone driving a Soul that isn't at least 40, the exception being the EV models which have decent lease deals at the moment.

I test drove the EV variant at a show because the Niro got lost in shipping. It's not too huge but I'm still not that big a fan of crossovers/SUVs in general. It doesn't feel that big when driving, material quality is actually pretty decent for the price, far from offensive. You still have low end torque like a Fit EV but it drops off quick because of the size and weight of the car even with 2 people and no cargo. It's an ok car and the gas version is probably pretty reliable.

I usually have only had sedans and thus looks like it has more room inside. Does it handle well at least

what are you hauling that you need lots of room for?

Nothing just need a different car than just a regular sedan

post your local craigslist. cash or financing? how much cash do you have for a down payment or buying outright?

The EV version handles ok, I didn't get any highway time but I didn't think it was anything special. Unless you're used to high end Luxury cars you won't be disappointing but you're certainly not going to be impressed which is par for the course at this price point. If you're interested in a car like this also check out the Niro. Kia likes to call it a S/CUV but it's pretyy compact and gets really good fuel economy. Damn nice interior too.
