Endless Assfuck Edition

ADVENT HATE HIM!

pistols are useful

I've taken the liberty of slimming down the op and changing a few things. I dropped some really old stuff like the X2 tweaks and fixes, dropped one of the old mod links since it is in the modding pastebin, same for one of the wotc vids.
Added the X-Com Files since that's the current popular openxcom overhaul.
Obviously there is now room for more content, if you want to suggest some new stuff. I think I will take the time to update the /xcg/ pastebin today as well to reflect some of the WotC stuff.

>pistols are useful
Speaking of this, anyone used this mod?
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1125431597
Wondering if its fun/balanced.

You know if you didn't mention it no one would've noticed it, because nobody actually cares about what's in the OP as long as an xcom image is used and there's an /xcg/ somewhere in the thread title

but now everyone's gonna bitch about it just for the sake of bitching about it

Does the Chosen sniper ever do anything other than the 1 turn cone mark?

>You know if you didn't mention it no one would've noticed it, because nobody actually cares about what's in the OP as long as an xcom image is used and there's an /xcg/ somewhere in the thread title
I often refer new people to the OP and other people do as well. It's not really for the vets of /xcg/ (mostly) but more of a nice resource for newbies.
And no one is going to bitch about because I said so and even then I want feedback anyway.

Once he gets in vision he starts spider manning around and critting your dudes from high ground flanks, so don't let him do that.
Also daze nade.

>mfw pulling enemies out of high cover into the middle of my squad with JUSTICE
this shit is just magical
fucking spectres being blasted left and right by based Mox

So my first liberated region is under Invasion.

There was absolutely no possible way for me to even get close to beating that mission.

>Soldiers only level 3-4
>Thing I'm supposed to kill is acrossed the world, giant vision impeding buildings between it
>It's also inside the floor level of a building in a corner, so only one window to possibly shoot it through
>Reveal two pods first two turns and reinforcements immediately begin dumping down on me
>3 more pods just walk into the fight like ""whats up fagget?" Haven't even touched the relay yet and it's reinforcements every single round
>Every solider must kill at least 2 ADEVNT each round for me to even break even

Is my campaign over?

Are SPARKs maybe a little expensive? I'm liking them now, but the investment necessary is kind of steep. Both their armor and weapon upgrades are as expensive as mag rifles, despite only applying to a few soldiers in your roster. The initial proving grounds cost is also very expensive, and eats away at many limited resources (Elerium Cores and Alien Alloys). I'm enjoying using the robo-soldiers this playthrough, but are they viable on higher difficulties? The costs seem to just get out of control. Like the upgrades are so expensive so it feels like you should get more SPARKs to take advantage of the cost, but SPARKs themselves are already so expensive. Have you pro-gamers in here been finding them viable despite their high investment?

Please add an update date to explain when 'new update' is for PP.

>Game keeps crashing on startup
FUCKING FIX YOUR GAME JAKE

That mission is badly designed, honestly. I can do it now with some experience, but when sending out a shinobi spotter/phantom sniper team is nearly mandatory to succeed, it needs a rework.

It's fun but it kind of requires a class based around it

>when 'new update' is for PP.
Not sure what you mean. The "new update" just refers to the first link under it, and I just put it there it switch it up.
Do you mean just put the article date next to it?

Reaper and a Grenadier with two Frost Grenades is just so damn broken.

>tfw pulling a purifier to me with justice in lost and abandoned before knowing they explode

I only got my first SPARK on Legendary recently. To field a team they need smaller repair times.

Yes, please. It annoys me when it says new update for three months without a contextual date.

>1st hunter encounter
>introduces himself etc
>miss on the first shot
>"not the best first impression...."

I don't know if the Chosen Lair missions are supposed to be particularly magnificent or if I'm just salty about getting shot four times through high cover in the first room then losing my best Ranger to a Chryssalid, but I don't think I'd want to take them on without Plasma weapons and Power Armour.

Finally the Elders greatest champion shows himself

I feel like psi-rushing might be even stronger because they train up so fast with an engineer and training normal soldiers takes way longer now. I'm not even sure if them being tired or wounded stops them from training.

>Yes, please
Can do

They are a cake walk with Plasma

Looks like there was enough space for 1 or maybe 2 more chosen

>crash a gate
>reach second mission
>"kill the enemy commander"
>reset

The hunter is surprisingly charming. He talks about what you do like you're a streamer he's watching.

I uniroincally enjoy all the new dialogue they've put in game. Jake was right, the game feels way more populated now.

Thread looks dead but, is it possible to change the appearance of armor and weapons in the .ini's? I want to keep the standard look because the alien style is shit, fuck xenos.
If not, is there a mod on nexusmods for that, cause i didn't find one. I know there's at least one on steam workshop, but... let's just say i have technical problems with that.

I feel like the Templars were going to be a bigger thing but they ran out of production budget. Like Geist being an XCOM Psi operative.

It's an easy mission. You need to stealth till you find the Commander though.

>See the map move on the chosen's turn
>Guess where she might be with grenades
>Hit her
>Immediately have 2 other people throw grenades and my sniper shoot her
>She dies without doing anything

>ohbaby.png

Maybe they left a space for modders to add their own.

When I killed the Hunter, I got a cutscene where the Ethereals talk shit and tell the remaining two to get their act together.
For the Warlock, they say the sense Arrogance
For the Assassin, they say they sense Emptiness (lol)
What do they say for the Hunter if he is in the cut-scene?

>Thread looks dead but
u wot m8
>I know there's at least one on steam workshop, but... let's just say i have technical problems with that.
Hopefully it gets updated.

>thread looks dead

i know /xcg/ was never in the big leagues but it's a bit much to call this active thread ded

Wotc end cinematic is a nice addition.

>See the map move on the chosen's turn
I once had the red square outline of movement show up on the assassin when they moved.

>u wot m8
Just got here, thread was on 3rd page.
>Hopefully it gets updated.
Lets assume it wont, can someone actually help me with my question?

Are specialists useful late game?

It's alright, but it shines when combined with a class focused around it.

Yeah, especially since you can get a combat medic specialist.

>Tfw Repeater works on Skullmining misses

The cut-scenes are pre-rendered, so no.

Yea it seems insane. The maps starts with like 6 pods surrounding me, and I;ve got two turn before Endless reinforcements.

It takes my a minimum of three turns of full dashing to even get my snipers in place. And they;d have to dash directly into pods.

I could MAYBE do it, if I could shoot it from the start. But out of shear mathmatics, at least 4 turns to drop the relay while reinforcements on every single turn while I'm not allowed to use my snipers for anything other than relay shooting.

I've been on the same fucking map for almost an hour now trying to hunt down one stupid fucking Lost before it'll let me finish the mission.

>Lets assume it wont, can someone actually help me with my question?
I don't know what .ini edits it takes. Presumably, you could go look at the old mod and see how it modifies the .ini and try to apply it to your own game. tldr I don't know, if you feel like putting the time in you might be able to solve it yourself
Or maybe look a things like the Titfanfall armor pack which is always available as a cosmetic no matter what tier you are on.
eh, I wanted to say yes, but I'm not sure. They are stronger now, but so is every vanilla class. I think my final lategame squad would usually be 3 gunners, 2 psi ops, one ranger. Maybe it's different for legendary.

I just abandon any missions like that now. It's not worth the headache.
Lost are the worst, maybe even the only bad part of the expansion.

Console command killallai if you unable to find it

That sounds like a you problem user.

Man, this thread is moving fast.

Water World is done, Fucking satisfying killing an Avatar using all the hero classes, New ending cinematic while short was pretty good. I hope the new classes end up in Xcom 3.

We're going through at least 2 threads a day now it feels like.

I honestly dont know how to feel about WotC.

With enemy within, I finished another playthrough and eventually started one more that I abandoned halfway through.

With WotC, I am 3/4 done with the game, just about to kill of the final Chosen and do the main story chain all the way to the finale ... and I dont really want to play anymore... its just the same.

"Almost Xcom 3" my ass. At the same time I dont really feel like I regret spending the money. Weird. Guess Ill wait for Long War: WotC edition

A advent priest's mind control ability is broken if they go into sustain

thank god

>get ripped off prime
>enemy is allowed to get constant full cover shots
>I cant hit flanked 90% shots
>reinforcements arrive, overwatch from cover
>all 4 miss shots

nope, back in time. I can handle missing and taking damage, characters dying, but not from fucking screwy RNG

Stasis is annoying as is
>One guy blue move from objective with on turn left
>STASIS
SHIT

>102 out of 106 enemies killed
>all soldiers extracted
>data hack complete
>LOL MISSION FAILED
Fuck you Bradford, you do it then. Four fucking Lost hiding in some corner of the map is not cool

>RNG Scanning Bonus is Facility Lead
Glorious.

I mentioned oddly large leg customisation menu is the previous thread.

Removed all the mods and it's still huge compared to the rest of the (customisation) UI. Damnit Jake

I kinda get what you mean, just finished it as well. Like there's nothing to look forward to after you kill the Chosen, you just rush for Water World since you basically have WMDs.

Yeah, this is why I run scan protocols, plus you don't get the sound/doppler effect telling you where the enemies are or them going near you when you make a sound.

Oh also if mind controlled by a priest a specialist can attack itself with it's gremlin

>Like there's nothing to look forward to after you kill the Chosen

That's because you've already done the next bit a million times.

Frankly I had the same problem with EW. Loved the new parts, tolerated the old parts.

I dunno, vanilla X2 was also incredibly easy to breeze through once you hit the later stages of the game. The expansion doesn't really change that, it just adds more to the early and middle stages.

Yeah, well for my new run I'll leave all 3 of the chosen and probably get murdered on water world.

They sense satisfaction from the Hunter

>get the sitrep that lets you reenter concealment
>if your squad is concealed the assassin just becomes visible and sits there doing nothing

Thanks. I actually think memes aside Hunter is my favorite. He seems like a chill guy.

I've had priests save my units from damage with stasis more than they've hindered me

Priest who use Holy Warrior also just help me get an easy double kill

>Despite getting shit on for most of the day Beagle is praising WotC to high heaven and is dedicating the weekend to it
That good huh?

They were dicks every-time I ran into them. Obviously just depends how the rng is treating you. Never a single mind-merge.

Exactly, they didnt do anything for the late game, which I felt like it was the weakest part of X2.

I think its mainly because there isnt enough research to do. Once you get plasma and powered armor, it gets kinda stale. Also once you have a whole page of Colonels, the aliens just cant keep up no matter what they do.

I like the assassin the most. She is actually dangerous, unlike the Hunter and she is chill when defeated, wishing you luck in taking back the Earth.

What's he on about, I can't find a damn thing on workshop fitting this name

I'm using the improved AI mod

I can't wait for modders to go crazy with sitreps and chosen weakness/strengths.

E3245 gave it to him early to show it off and generate buzz. E3 said it should be up in the week following TNX.

Nexus I think he mentioned

He streamed for 13.5 hours and definitely seemed to be coming around to it as it went on. He was just getting caught in that spiral for a while where if you don't get a flawless Gatecrashed, you get fucked for the first few missions and can't get the campaign off the ground.

Lost Sitreps make me want to tear my hair out, not because it's hard but because it takes fucking forever to finish.

>wishing you luck in taking back the Earth.

That took me by surprise. I was expecting her to be bitchy but she was instead the most magnanimous in death.

Bore of the Chosen

>wishing you luck in taking back the Earth.
That's interesting.
If you get the hunter as your first chosen with the right perks he's a real pickle to deal with.
Early game he won't just sit back with his LOS sniping ability, he'll actually get into the thick of it and go for flank shots. And my he also had Low Profile, so killing him was a bitch.

Well apparently the vanilla AI was playing smarter than your improved AI.

And to compound that Legend is alot worse than the Legend hes used to.

Who thought it was a good idea to make the mind control cooldown of the Warlock as long as the time he controls someone. he is on the other side of the map and i CANT GET CLOSER WITHOUT GETTING KILLED BY MY OWN ARASHI+KATANA RANGER

I had both of those on her hideout. The additional enemies still kept it annoying tho

what if you could stasis objectives to freeze timers

I didnt know its random. I had the Assasin as the first one in both games I started.

Yeah my Hunter just does the long range snipe that is laughably useless if I keep out of his direct LOS. I think in the whole game, he used his general ability exactly once. Poor guy, my templar just carved the shit out of him every time he showed up.

>fuck mods since xcom

it's only random if you play without lost and abandoned

>tfw you realize the Chosen's true aim was to be so interesting that XCOM would give up after killing them all, ensuring the Elders' victory.

It's random if you don't have LOA on. I've only encountered the hunter 2 times before killing him and he was kinda disappointing, although i didn't go to his region until i got a guy to colonel.

What if we had the LW2 officers for WotC wit their intervention skill? That would be nice

Personally I'd just remove that ability, it's too useless. give him glancing shots instead that only deal one damage from squadsight instead to "encourage you" to go find him :^)

Stop playing Bore of the Chosen! I said stop it!

>wrong female integrated

Hey lads, what's the best build order for your base with WotC? Still doing GTS first right now, but wondering what I should build after it
