Why do most exhaust pipes rust and are not made of stainless steel?

so manufacturers save money

Stainless will also eventually rust with any abrasion

Stainless steel is heavy and expensive. If the pipe rusts so bad, you can just replace it for pennies on the dollar. High performance exhausts are made of Titanium only for weight savings, and because Titanium is softer than steel, it actually sounds worse.

they rust because of heat and when its cooling down it condensates on it.

Stainless is heavy as fuck, sucks at dissipating heat, and is hard to bend as a tube cause its so rigid, its one of the worst materials for exhaust

That exhaust i.4cdn.org/wsg/1520875433136.webm

wouldn't a softer metal absorb harsh high frequencies and prevent that nasty raspy noise?

>that nasty raspy noise?

FUCKING FINALLY SOMEONE WHO HATES IT TOO.
I love you (no homo)

Serious question though. Any great locations on the west coast that can make a custom fit titanium exhaust? Having a hard time finding one without a lot of negative reviews.

I have the exhaust measurements they would need, already, with resonator (noise restrictions at local track). Just want quality work.

do it yourself with a harbor freight tig welder

>implying anyone with the money to buy a titanium exhaust would weld anything themselves

>horsecock.jpg

Hey, keep that to yourself, okay?

BENIS

>tfw your Bad Dragon gets rusty
That’s why I only use their certified cum lube

Mild steel works fine and will outlast most other components on your shitbox

You know what doesn't work? Usnig literally coat hangers and bailing wire as your filler metal.

>oxy welding in 2018
Get a load of this cuck

Horse penis.

CHECKED

I thought if I turned the oxygen down it would have a better carbon content :[

Just get low hydrogen rods and a proper welder. Where are you even getting the gas if you're a amateur pleb? It's a pain in the arse to get in Australia

I live in the rust belt. Just go down the road and you can get whatever tanks, rods, tips, whatever else you want.

idgaf. It was a friend's rig and we're good m8s so I thought I'd give it a shot for fun. Good learning experience I guess. Sounded pretty rad when the midpipe broke off after the cat in the middle of winter and I wasn't touching that shit until it got warm again.

What kind of car? Kline (not from the US but ships there) might do something, they make stainless, titantium, and inconel parts.

The numbers do not lie

fu torch welding is astute

you've never broken a bolt loose more easily

>inconel

enjoy your weight gain

congrats for being a faggit I guess

>Stainless steel ebay fartcan

nice bad dragon

You must be thinking of galvanized steel, which is simply coated on the surface to prevent rust. Stainless Steel has allowing elements that essentially prevent the iron from rusting by providing a more reactive element than iron to oxygen. Even if it gets gouged it will form a new native oxide layer to cover up the steel again.

Stainless isn’t unrustable, though some grades are more resistant than others.
