>>Timing is off.
Why did you buy it?

to be my drift slut.
perfect no rust shell for $1000
It'd be nice to run the ka24de before swapping it with a 2jz or ls motor.

I wonder why he sold it after a rebuild

>be Friday
>go to change brakes
>left wheel done
>remove right wheel
>I have the wrong interior brake pad
>I've installed the left interior brake pad upside-down
>fuck it
>install this one upside-down also

>turning another 240sx in to baby's first drift car
Fuck I hate you people

at least he bought a pre-ruined one you purist nigger

>replacing timing chain & gears
>get new timing set mounted
>put timing cover back on with a ton of RTV
>just about have all the timing cover bolts torqued down
>suddenly realize i forgot to put retaining bolt/washer back on camshaft timing gear
>fuckfuckfuckohwhathaveidone?
>maniacally remove timing cover
>stick cam shaft timing gear bolt/washer in, torque it down
>apply more goobers of RTV
>put timing cover back on again
>proceed as normal
>fuck
thankfully ended up with no leaks and all was fine afterwards

Honestly, what else are they even good for?

>perfect shell
>240sx
>drift slut

Fuck yooooouuuuuu

>changing spark plugs on my s13 in the vatozone parking lot
>some stance fags asking me if i "slide"
>no because it's dumb and i like my car

>2001
>Buy my first car
>Mint 1991 240sx with 120,000mi on it from the first owner
>Nothing wrong with it
>Haven't driven it since 2007
>Refuse to sell because only retards buy 240s

True story

>replacing oil lines to and from tarbo on picrel
>reach deep to reconnect final line
>get shirtsleeve caught on heatshield
>slice hand trying to free it
>hand pouring blood
>need hospital
>have to bike 3 miles to urgent care place because car can’t be driven and is blocking in motorcycle
>get 12 stitches

That was an interesting weekend. My GF came home while I was at the clinic and called 911 because my cell phone was sitting on the fender and there were tools and blood all over the driveway and my bumper. She thought I had gotten murdered or something.

>She thought I had gotten murdered or something.
lolol why didn't you call an uber though?

Getting the timing right is piss easy. You should have expected everything that could have gone wrong with the rebuild to have gone wrong.

This was 3 years ago. Not sure Uber existed at that point. Either way, I live in the sticks and they don’t serve here. Only took me 13 minutes to get from home to the clinic so anything would have been slower than biking.

yeah everything dies eventually. at least these drifto guys dispose of these old shitboxes in a grand and honorable fashion.

>changing the oil in my 5th gen
>done every oil change since I got it practically like changing a diaper to me now
> drain oil
>put drain plug back in (no filter this time)
>pour in oil
>realize I put too much because no filter this time fuck
>take out drain plug, nothing comes out?
>look under car, realize what I've done, pull oil pan out- its tranny fluid fuuuuuuck
>alright no biggy ill just drain oil and pour tranny fluid back in
>realize ive mixed an entire oil change worth of new oil into the old oil
> fuck it ill refil the tranny first
>no tranny filler, have to pump it in with a special tool
>run to autozone and buy the tool
>fill it back up, drain fucking buckets of oil out of engine, shit just keeps on coming out I want to cry

Who else knows how to change transmission fluid on a fifth gen?

Shit, where to begin...

>99 S10 4x4 long bed
>Water pump leaking
>Keep it going for a few months with just putting in water until it finally over heated too much
>Purchased water pump
>Never done anything mechanical in my lifetime

>Took two hours to realize the radiator fan was reverse threaded
>It was rusted closed, could not remove radiator fan
>Tried using tension and leverage with a chain
>Tried with three people holding onto the rod
>Tie up my dog to it(Rhodesian Ridgeback)
>Hold on to her until she sees a squirrel
>Release the dog, nearly flips the truck on it's side, was on two wheels
>Fan was still in place

Ended up taking out the radiator, then the water pump, ramming a crowbar into the water pump while having mammoth pliers on the bolt(Never had proper tools) and finally got it free. Put on new pump and truck has been fine ever since.

>1994 Ford Bronco Full size
>Take friend out to play in the mud
>Truck had been starting funny for awhile, but it went away, thought nothing of it
>Get out to mud, friend wants to drive, insists he can drive a stick
>Dumps clutch in first gear, digs the truck in to the mud, up to the doors(35" tires)
>This kills the engine
>Won't start, try it myself and realize it's the fucking starter
>Under the mud

Dug it out on a rainy day, took hours and a lot of time, then to find out that the wiring was recalled but never dealt with. The new starter did not work with factory wire ends, ended up just fucking jury rigging.

>1994 Ford Bronco again
>Driving to meet some friends in town
>Push down on clutch pedal, gets stuck to floor, no return
>Freak out thinking linkage or something, after doing some googling
>Look into it and learn it is a hydraulic clutch
>Bushing on push rod was plastic, and broke
>Go to autozone and buy new master cylinder
>New push rod is too big for the clutch safety
>Now I have to start the truck with a screw driver on the clutch safety while turning the key
>Great security feature
>If someone were to want to steal it...

Nice stories

>00 F250
>water pump goes out
>go to change it
>use nothing but a hammer, a pry bar, an adjustable hammer, and a 10mil wrench
>... And people claim these things are hard to work on

this

NEVER buy a “rebuilt/refreshed” engine that was done by someone in their garage at home. You literally never know what’s inside the engine, even if they have receipts. The only way to truly have any faith in a swapped out car is if it’s swapped out by a reputable shop with itemized receipts - even then i’d still check to make sure the engine vin matched the recpeit or something

kill yourself, i'm dead serious

Fifth gen what

>Removing coil spring from strut with pic related
>spring compressor slips
>wehaveliftoff.webm
>just an inch from my face
>springs flies over my car at supersonic speeds
>i'm sure it will land on the windscreen
>nope
>lands on a pan of brake fluid
>brake fluid spashes everywhere
>not a single drop hits my car

I did have to repaint my coil spring though.

Every time.

i respect your mission

Cruising, DDing.

>ordered brake pads and rotors
>couldn't replace them for a month because of work and weather
>today becomes the only day where I can work on the car
>take rotors out of the box
>realize I only ordered one rotor

No wonder they seemed so cheap for $30...

You tell me what other cheap cars can you get for under 10k to use exclusively for drifting. And no, miatas dont count.

>what is 2 plus 2? and no 4 doesnt count
