I suggest trying a solo battle rods run to see if your opinion of the mod doesn't change. While rods really are amazing at killing bosses, they're awful at crowd control so you have git gud at maneuvering around and aiming the bobber when you get swarmed or for certain bosses.

Make a ghetto for your npcs to live in. Like an actual stylized ghetto. Shitty metal huts and tents with leaky roofs. If you want to get super creative, make some graffiti with the walls. Then create a massive half life citadel tower where you can overlook all the peasants while you fuck the nurse all day.

Skelly has 100 defense when both its hands are alive, so if you didn't go after them on normal mode, go after them now.
The fight can be made almost trivial if you have boots of fast and a Shield of Cthulhu.
