I watch the show. Millennials just don't appreciate drag racing for whatever reason.
Who watches street Outlaws?
For me, it's mostly because it seems prohibitively expensive.
At Street Outlaws level? Absolutely. These guys have engines that cost more than a new Corvette.
On the other hand you can take any car you want to a bracket event and go home with some prize money and/or a trophy if you're lucky.
Street Outlaws came to Memphis for a bit and has a show here now. For a show called street outlaws, Memphis Police welcomed them with open arms and closed off the road that us nobodies use for street racing (and often get ticketed for) just for them. They also ran security detail for anybody that bought tickets. They also brought their own street racing cliques despite Memphis already having multiple, and they refuse to run with/against any of the natives.
Discovery isn't going to let their guys get busted. They get permits and all that good shit for taping. Show is surprisingly popular and they're not gonna take chances. The racing is still real. They still race off the show, all over Youtube as well. I also don't see how they don't race the natives when JJ and his crew are from Memphis.
Probably because drag racing is boring, it’s all about how much money you can throw at a car with little regard to driver skill outside of bracket racing, and the drag racing community is full of MUH V8 RACE ME BRO dickheads.
to each his own...
what do you drive out of curiosity?
what about when azn and farmtruck go out and do the fishing? sometimes they are racing in broad daylight in traffic!
That shit is scripted to high hell. Most of the people they race they've known for years. Maybe the racing is real but everyone knows who/what the hell Farmtruck is. Probably the fakest part of the show. A lot of people like Farmtruck and AZN and Discovery wants them ratings.
Like I said if you want real shit without Discovery it's all over Youtube.
My boss was on the show. He got his ass smoked lol.
