it's a bug, tooltip will show all their abilities/buffs falling off. The reason for this is they're actually 2 seperate unit, and for each mount type. So what it's displaying is the stats for Vanilla Wurrzag. After you upgrade, it re-applies all your other shit to them.
So the tooltip is basically useless for showing how stats will improve/change besides base armor and speed

Also upgrading mount tree is a waste of skill points, since they in no way improve your new mount. Having a barded warhorse or a level 3 Pegasus isn't going to affect Deathclaw at all

Both top tier barrack chains are almost complete, now I am in a bit of a dilemma - I'm not exactly sure what I want my army comp to be. There are a few units of note
>Pikes Have served me well so far, but seem to be falling off in effectiveness. Would be useful as a wall to ward off frontal cavalry charges that some factions like to pull when they have lots of cav, but they can only be used defensively and have pretty poor combat stats >Kushite Shotelai Offensive monsters, but they are only medium and as such get fucked hard by cav, and their low armor leaves them somewhat vulnerable to missiles. Unfortunately not as good of an anvil as I would like >Desert Palatina Defectors Basically a cheaper version of the Shotelai, trade offensive stats/ap for better health/melee def. Have worse morale, but come with missile weapons.
As far as cavalry is concerned, I also don't wnat my cav force to be solely made up of unarmored very light shock cav. I would like something to kill enemy cav and allow my light lancers to do their thing unimpeded, but am not sure if I want to go with armored camel warriors since they get used in every other desert faction campaign

Morale can be compensated for w/ general nearby or not sucking. Palatina Defectors IMO, with 2-4 units of pikes to sit on the flanks of formations. 2-3 Shotelai for flank and line reinforcement.

right now I am thinking of something similar to what I used for my gothic armies in TLR >4x pikes they are the anvil >4x kushite shotelai protect the flanks of the pikes, can go into shield wall and be defensive if needed to, but can also go on the offensive and hammer inf occupied by the pikes >2x Hetaireia Guards I can't not use these guys, they would serve as shock inf, and would be on the flanks behind the shotelai ready to do whatever they need to. Normally I would have 2x spears on the wings of the formation instead, but the best spear unit I get is the basic desert spear + I want to use these axe wielding madmen >4x nubian archers skirmishers sat behind the pikes >2x mavia's chosen why play tanukhid's if you aren't going to use these guys?
Including the general, that leaves 3 slots for additional units >more cav 2 more cav is probably the best option since I need more protection from enemy cav on the flanks w/ no spears and vulnerable melee inf there >arty 1x onager makes sieges much easier and forces enemies w/o arty to come to you >skirmish cav I like these guys but I don't think I have the room
