You can farm everything outside magnafest. The free quest only happens twice a year if you missed it then have fun recovering your pots. Only the gold bar can gate you unless you already have one.

Speaking from personal experience, you get ~2 orbs/run with crew&shop buff. 950 orbs and whorls are needed, meaning you need 190 pots (50AP/pot) to do angel halo outside of magfest. It's not worth it my friend
