Agree with this, but I think he don't have a final boss because his story and Sonic one occurs at the same time, unlike S3K/SK that Knuckles story occurs after Sonic one

The problem there is I don't even know where Sonic Mania stores it's save files. The configuration file are stored with the EXE in the install directory, but I can't find the save data anywhere. Certainly not in the usual places, unless I'm forgetting something.

Practice, go thru multiple parts of the stage to figure out the fastest most momentum filled route possible and pretty much abuse the spindash/DropDash as much as possible and keep moving. Avoid obstacles like Walls or Enemies or Spikes as much as you can to keep moving.
Repetition is key but again you earn nothing but respect, jealously or adoration from fellow runners.
(which in real life holds no value whatsoever.)
