Bonds are useful if utilised correctly. Training Centre isn't an immediate purchase, you won't get much value until your troops are Lieutenants roughly.

It's only useful once you have level 2 bonds and a decent amount of AP on your soldiers, which will take a while.

Berserker Queen, alien ruler. Pay attention when the game tells you a big badass alien is protecting a facility.

He already has a GTS and resistance ring built though.

Get loads of cc equipment and lock the thing in place to shred. Frost bomb and flashbang are your best friends in this matchup

My Skirmisher wasn't pulled from my character pool. FUCK

I played XCOM2 at release, but stopped before any DLC came out. I got all the DLC and the new expansion for a new playthrough.

How am I supposed to kill this thing? Does it retain its HP through missions? Otherwise it feels physically impossible to kill because it opened a portal the very same turn I encountered it.

I didn't know what that is what it meant, I thought it was talking about some high level enemy was gonna be there, not some sort of boss.

I have a uniform per class, with optional accessories.

It's one of the Alien Rulers. I'm on my first WoTC run myself and it seems like they did away with the missions for the Alien Hunters/Shen's Last Gift DLCs or squirreled them away somewhere, so you don't really get much of a warning about their existance until you assault a facility (which is now where they show up instead of a random chance to be on any mission after completing the Viper's Nest mission).

You just got your face rocked by the Berserker Queen. Consider yourself lucky - before WoTC they got to act against you on EVERY SINGLE ACTION. Including reloading your goddamn gun.

Simple but appealing

It retains all the damage you did to it on previous missions. It gets a turn after EVERY one of your actions.
Just wait til you get to the next guy...

By the great and merciful gods no it does not recover HP. But it and the Viper King/Archon Queen all take a turn every time a squad member takes an action. so lock them down and take them out fast. At least that how it works in vanilla, apparently it's easier in wotc like said

Look on the bright side. At least now you know what the warning means and you know where the rulers will be because of it. If you were doing regular X2 with just the first two DLC they could turn up on literally any mission completely at random once you did the intro mission.

I did the unlock mission completely unprepared with basic ballistics and armor and then encountered the viper king when I went to do the blacksite. Mistakes were made on that playthrough

You can have more than 1 up at once if you have multiple facilities on the map

Only had one wound, 100% success rate, and I didn't even have to reset gatecrasher more than once.

Highpoint so far was a mission where one of my guys got crit-shot (despite being in cover+aid protocol) from full to dying, and I finished the mission with a low ranking pistolero + squaddie sniper took out 4 guys, mostly with the pistolero moving on point and abusing return fire, and the fact that enemies don't shoot at you when you are paniced/mindcoontrolled, and the other sniper being too far for that.

.... and right as I type this, almost squadwiped on a supply raid mission where everything went wrong. Fucking amazing.

Also I'm playing on iron man so there's no do-overs if I fuck this up.

Yeah you can, I did that. It's pretty hard when shit hits the fan I must say.

I use character pool uniforms, it is a little broken because certain items will randomly not be equipped but it works for the most part.
