Jake is useful

I love this sitrep.

So is there supposed to be a cutscene after you defeat all the Chosen? After I beat the last one, I just got the regular one where the guy collapses and the obelisk explodes and that's it. Was hoping for maybe something more.

DEUS VULT

xth for homosexuality

nth for when will "reduce beginner voiceover" actually reduce beginner voice overs

never, because the $40 patch is already out, and it still doens't stop the quotes about >that's an advent goon, commander

"Weakness to explosives was a mistake"
-Jake Solomon 2017

You only see it if you kill the last Chosen using a bond attack from level 3 bondmates who are both using the weapons of the other two dead Chosen

Post oc donutsteel

I feel like you're memeing me

I'm going to regret this aren't I?

What are you talking about?

He is not memeing, but he forgot to mention that they both need to be colonels too.

>half cover
yep

>Sitting on a roof with all my soldiers
>Concealed, in overwatch
>Enemy patrol decides to RANDOMLY FUCKING CLIMB UP SOME PIPE (yeah, I am sure that is in protocol you advent fucks)
>They spot me
>For some reason, instead of doing their usual cutscene and then run away (which would trigger overwatch) THEY FUCKING TELEPORT INTO THE BOTTOM FLOOR
>Don't trigger overwatch
>One of the enemies throws a grenade THROUGH the ceiling onto the roof
>Hits all my troops, blows it up, all my guys fall
>All of my guys are heavily damaged
>The other two patrols shoot and kill two of my guys

I genuinely don't understand what happened. How did they climb up the pipe and then teleport into the building? How did they not trigger overwatch? How did they get to do their turn instantly?

This isn't even bullshit or anything, it is literally what happened.

>get an idea during a retaliation mission
>photo booth
>position soldier looking over destroyed haven
>some position, effects, and text later and get something good
>take a step back and look at it
>get a rush of anger and thirst for revenge
Post emotional posters.

...

dang man thats good!

Sounds like magnificent design to me.

Which Hidden Potential/Not Created Equal mod to use?
Theres like 3 for WotC.

While I haven't had anything that extreme, I have had enemy troops teleport before.

I had an advent patrol walk up to a building and just teleport to the other side of it and then spot me, but they still triggered the cutscene.

>23 damage
Holy fuck did you nuke him?

>start a new game with tutorial
>get past converter mission
>go into loadout screen from deployment screen for guerilla mission
>can't exit screen, don't feel like sitting through anymore tutorial bullshit
>start another new game
>set up ambush
>three on reaction, one shooting
>first shot hits, kills one ADVENT
>three reaction fires target the same guy and miss
>both surviving enemy troops hit the same target on their turn, killing a soldier in full cover
Gee XCOM thanks for reminding me that you are complete cheating horse shit and should be exploited at every turn.

So I decided to watch the aliens and the lost fight it out for a bit, then moved my squad that was in concealment into position to fight them, while my reaper threw claymores and blew up cars etc.

The aliens got into a giant ball as I setup and for some reason started shooting each other. The Gatekeeper and ADVENT troops just started shooting at each other and the Spectres, but the spectres wouldn't do any shooting and just moved back and forth.

I dropped a rift and some grenades on them then mopped up the rest. They didn't move when I revealed myself, probably because they were activated from the Lost.

What the fuck?

What are you guys expecting from the WOTC version of LW2?

This happens all the time when you're ambushed in Covert ops. The red flare can pop up fucking far away from you, but then they teleport right next to you, then get an extra move. Total bullshit.

>in photo booth at end of mission
>edit dudes, move em around next to funny rag dolls
>press continue to "continue" editing
>continue means go to skyranger, need to press < instead

rip

This is my its time playing this game (XCOM 2), and I'm on PS4; new to XCOM too. I think I am near endgame, and one of those choose-between-3-missions events popped up. Revealed a hidden event in West Africa as reinforcing the Avatar project by 2 points.

Every time the mission loads the game crashes. What the fuck? Is this game buggy as shit? I get crashes from time to time, but nothing consistent and repeatable like this.

Also in this mission I kept getting concealment broken after rescuing a friendly VIP. Gatekeeper would then open up a gate in the room and kill the VIP + nuke everyone else in there.

Remote Start + Claymore + Assassin weak to explosives and Reapers, it was a one-shot.

30 HP per lost with 100% targeting to Xcom.

why would you ever overwatch when ambushing tho?

Haha! Look how tactical I am! Look how much this game rewards tactics! I sure do enjoy the fact that running out of cover like a complete fucking moron and spamming grenades can very easily win in a situation where thinking like an intelligent human being does not.

Boy I sure am feeling tactical.

>WOTC version of LW2

If I gain immunity for 2 turns on a soldier and I just run out into the open, will aliens still attack them?

Your first mistake was playing on console.

>Blacksite mission pre-WotC
>Most of my guys are on a roof right outside the entrance
>execute a nearly perfect opening, wipe out two whole pods other than one mech
>next turn
>mech decides to use rockets
>destroys the building and kills three of my five soldiers and heavily damages my spark
I think I quit after that

flanking and using grenades is far more tactical that hunkering down and hoping to hit a moving target

How so? Does the game have a reputation as being shit on consoles?

>start legend campaign
>finally get through gatecrasher without wounds
>game doesn't give me a grenadier
>first mission is a neutralize commander
>enemy hiding behind three blocks of heavy cover near the spawn spots me on the first turn
>another pod which doesn't have the commander rolls up
>promptly ragequit the campaign and try again
>this time first mission is a destory the relay
>abandoned subway map, having to open the two sets of doors eats up turns trying to get to the objective while staying concealed
>only path forward into the next area has two groups
>try the engagement anyway, get mind controlled, ragequit again
>this time the mission is a hack the computer
>7 turns to complete the objective
>takes 4 to run across the map
>objective is surrounded by two pods of pectoid+2goons, can't get line of sight without reveal
>try the engagement anyway, kill one goon, flashbang all but one sectoid
>sectoid mind controls, everybody else hits my guys
how do you even get a legend run started guys what the fugg

I thought green = doesn't cost an action?

Install [WOTC] Gotcha Again

So do the Chosen attack the Avenger at max knowledge bars? I'm debating if I should attack their stronghold or wait and see what the avenger mission is like

Yeah their UI designer kinda shit the bed on this one. The buttons aren't even the same height, let alone size, and aren't clearly labeled on any of the new screens

yes

Yes

Nah, green is just a mission-related action. Some cost actions, some don't.

How many new tilesets are there in WoTC? I know there's tunnel/sewer and abandoned cities, but are there any more?

>Removal of Between the Eyes
>To get a Hero character you need to get a soldier to Colonel, then send them to the Faction HQ for a month
>Chosen have a shitload more health
>Purifiers have more movement speed and run and gun

>flanking and using grenades is far more tactical
Stop right there. No it's fucking not. Not in this game. Tactics have nothing to do with it. The simple matter of fact is that grenades have no RNG and can be relied upon 100%. Even flanking is trash compared to simply throwing as many grenades as you can because it still operates on XCOM's fucktarded percentage system that doesn't make sense.

Is their version of the avenger defence interesting? Is ti worth checking out?

>see what the avenger mission is like
it's piss easy if you have a reaper and a sharpshooter with squadsight

So I changed up a squad member I was subbing in for one that I had used in the last mission and the mission loads. Hope I'm not stuck with one squad for he rest of the game

I'm honestly wondering if Lump is just going to completely axe his revised burning mechanics and keep it preventing melee attacks now that the lost are a thing

It's infinitely inferior by nature of not having mod support, or even being able to edit the game at all.

pistols are useful

Why did plasma go from green to blue inbetween EU/EW and XCOM 2?

kek you havent even seen the retarded speed of the avatar project and the 80 days build for facilities

Bls resbond
I wanna play but I don't know which versions might be shit or not

I think you need your eyes checked if you think this is blue.

you might be colorblind

>when your master hacker Specialist is afraid of MECs

but the XCOM plasma rifles are blue

It's even funnier since your turrets can target the battery and the trucks across the map.

That boy needs therapy.

They're green

Does the Reaper chick get wall hacks?

Hot garbage. The game has enough content now to where I don't need LW throwing a mission at me every 6 hours.

>le extra move maymay
firaxisCOM was a mistake.

Finally, something goes my way

you mean the actual weapons themselves? EU plasma weapons are silver, not green

Are SPARKS useless now with the fact they can't gain ability points?

They have a place when you have wounded units and need to send something out.

I just see SPARKs as big, expensive SHIVs.

Unfortunately the whole point of SHIVs was to be able to manufacture semi-cheap throwaway squadmates that could help fill out your squad when you were a man short. Since SPARKs are big and expensive that kinda defeats the purpose.

>has man in her name
is this intentional

>tfw ADVENT forces are cornered and getting colossally assfucked
This is seriously satisfying desu.

No, not with the fatigue system. They can be a boon early to mid game since you can just keep taking them and they should level up faster than your other troops because of this. Obviously they will fall off compared to the vanilla classes at the end, but making it through the early/mid game is the most important part anyway.

>katana does 1 more damage
>but ionic axe has a free ranged attack
decisions decisions

you need to restart for a dozen hours until rng blesses your campaign tbqh

Katana can't miss and ignores armor

As other user said, can't miss + ignores armor. Definitely better unless you are specifically fighting the rulers.

Legend aint that bad.

where do I get the hairstyles in the OP?

They cost so fucking much though with 2 elerium cores a pop
Easier to roll a genius rookie and train him a little

>no ironman
fuk off savescumer

Objectively the worst GTS tactic right now. Even biggest booms has a higher chance.

>They cost so fucking much though with 2 elerium cores a pop
Yeah, that's true. Really don't need more than one though.

>playing ironman
My first campaign would have been broken right now if I had done that.

You can still use Ability points on them though

Mentally awake is required for Templars to even be remotely playable.

How do you use it on them? I can't train them in the advanced warfare center.

>Playing Ironman
>In the new XCOMs

No thanks, my first Ironplay through of EU was forced to end after 3 days of solid playing because of a bug I could not get around.

What does it do again? I'm in a mission.

they start missions with one focus

If you can't work around bugs in ironman you shouldn't be playing this game at all

I had this for months and it literally never ever happened. Waste of supplies.

yeh boi

Templars start with 1 focus.

It's necessary because it gives you a decent chunk of damage to start, allows you to use abilities on the first fight if needed, and it is pretty much necessary to have if you get the skill that lets you get more levels of focus (which is necessary for making their moves any good).

Like so?

Use the mod that buffs it to a free blue move each turn for skirimishers
