Shelby Cobra equivalent?
Shelby Cobra equivalent?
miata
Archie Fiero
Viper,
Upcoming TVR,
This but with a V8 swap
Factory Five Cobra with a GT40 302 and all the suspension goodies.
The viper was intended to be a cobra successor
BMW Z8 which was supposed to be a modern BMW 507.
You can't afford it.
I think that was just more of a soft cruiser than a high performance roadster like the Cobra.
every one you see, as theyre all fieros with bodykits.
LITERALLY a Miata with an LS swap. You can't get much more similar.
It has no peers
This day and age? None. The most recent one? Original Dodge Viper. TVRs get honorable mention. Why? High power, light weight, and no driver aids.
>Shelby Cobra equivalent?
TVRs. Literally the same kind of natural selection cars.
Caterham, Morgan
Factory Five
Ls swapped miata
TVR Tuscan
In that case they badly botched it, but then they're Dodge so that kind of thing is old hat.
Not the original Viper no. They didn't botch it. The first generation was spot on in creating the whole Cobra vibe of being a widow maker and striking fear into the driver. The damn thing makes 465ft-lbs of torque at 3600RPM. That's a lot very low on the tach. Way more torquey than a huge majority of cars today.
Caterham/Locost with a bigblock

>mfw Ford used to own a third of Mazda and they never dropped a Coyote into a Miata and sold it for $60k as a new Cobra
Porsche 356
Both are expensive cars, and both are popular with the replica kit market.
Superformance
One thing about cars like the Shelby Cobra though is the pedigree. A V8 Miata is on the nose in terms of big engine little body yeah, and Shelby did take a roadster and crammed in a Ford powerplant like some of these other examples. However the Cobra went on to win races. There's a big reason why genuine Shelby Cobras can fetch 6 digit numbers in auctions. And on that note I'll reiterate again the original Viper. At the time it came out, it was perceived as a car for mad men, and it went on to pull in some interesting wins. Time will tell if the first generation will captivate the collector market or not, however.
The Subeam Tiger is the literal cobra equivalent. It’s a ‘60s British roadster with a ford v8
>Obnoxious V8
>High HP
>Massive handful when driven to 8/10s
Always thought this was the modern version. Wish it came with a proper manual.
