And with that, my work is done. Going back to bed, see you buddies in the morning.
Also slavshit best shit.
Daniel Bell
Amen. 'night buddies.
Carson Diaz
Good morning, /aceg/. Why so many threads?
Isaac Peterson
I got this today.
Godbless Osea, and nobody else.
John Cox
Where did you get that from?
That's why he showed up as a teen in a cutscene
Nolan Harris
CYHNAH
Asher Phillips
What?
Liam Wright
we need the Gate Keeper this time around for VGL, Belka is a shit goalie
Alexander Scott
Yes, unless he turns out to be worse than Belka too like the last one
Adrian Gomez
nothing can break through the golden nest
Ethan Harris
China.
Jackson Hall
What does Gault mean anyway? I don't think it's a german word for anything, just a name
Maybe next time I should pronounce it first
>NCR My buddy
Xavier Fisher
Gold, all Belkan ace squads in Zero are named after colours Gelb is yellow, Grun is green, Schnne is snow, etc
Logan Hill
Oh they just went full Grun on it and didn't spell it right, that makes sense
Gavin Hill
I'm the Sea Goblin guy too. I'll probably roll it up and stick it on my Sea Goblin kit at some point like a lot of Seals and stuff do.
Lucas Perez
They carry flags around? But yeah that would be neat
James Sanchez
It's pretty common. They'll bring them with them, take pictures with it, depending on what they want to do with it they'll sign them. A lot of dudes bring them back and give them to friends and family as gifts.
"This is the flag I carried on my tour, I want you to have it." Sort of things. They'll make up a certificate with the time, place and mission. Things like that.
They work better as marker panels too. And if you want to get morbid they can put it over you if you're KIA but that's less common.
Lucas Cox
You nearly did it.
Logan Phillips

Jonathan Cruz
He's probably only like 6'3". He's just flanked by two short guys.
Easton Nelson
It's not going to be on the next demo but there will be a mode like that in the future.
Cameron Baker
Is that the new cockpit?
Gavin Johnson
Fuck that looks nice, especially with the tracking I haven't asked in a while so, any news on trackIR?
Easton Lopez
>tfw the only reason you haven't bought the demo yet is that you're holding back on buying games to deal with your chronic backlog pains >tfw you have to make a sub-backlog of games to complete within the year >tfw said sub-backlog isn't even a third of the full backlog I think I'll crack as soon as it hits steam, though. This is some sort of gaming bulemia.
Juan Hall
But the demo is free...
Asher Phillips
What game is this
Zachary Ramirez
Wasn't it a name-your-own price thing? Also, KS when? I gotta throw money.
How long / how much of a timesink is the demo? Maybe I'm being stupid due to the size of my backlong.
Anthony Sullivan
It's literally a single level. If you take more than 10min to finish it I'd be suprised.
Lincoln Walker
next demo when, buddy? also congrats on the grant money
David Lee
Ok, then I was being stupid. I hope my computer can run it. Downloading atm. What content does it have?
Juan Edwards
One mission where you shoot some planes and I think one aircraft to do it with. It's a barebones demo, but it's fun, I think a new one is on the way There were some older ones with different missions but I don't think they're uploaded anymore for obvious reasons
Wyatt Barnes
Yup, It's a revised version of the old Flanker cockpit. Figured the old one wasn't up to par of how I wanted it.
Thanks user, at the moment I've put it in the backburner because I've got to finish and polish this demo. I will update the upcoming demo eventually with TrackIR support.
I'm working really hard on it to get it out sometime in the next 2 weeks. But at the moment I'm running on valve time.

Yeah, it's pretty neat. The Draken was there too, just the two-seater tho, I don't know if the single-seaters still fly.
Thomas Peterson
Draken is very sexy

Carson Jones
Just finished playing the demo. I'm blown away. Switching missiles with the d-pad felt weird at first, but I got used to it quickly (years of GoW experience help, I guess). Will there be ammo displays in cockpit view in later versions? I was also wondering if there would be further optimizations, though I'm not one to complain about having a 20-30 FPS performance as long as the game isn't slowed like when you're emulating. >fail mission because you crash in a large aircraft you shot down Truly the Ace Combat experience.
>Calamity Raven fight with the escort APC For what purpose?
Looks a bit goofy with two seats
Angel Bailey
Yeah, the short butt and big canopy on the sk35 isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the regular j35. Guess it's more practical to keep a trainer flying though.
Here's a pic from google for reference
Connor Russell
It's crazy how much top tier OC we have in /aceg/ lately. Razgriz Patch guy restocks, thunder is publishing the RPG, PW Dev gets lodsemoney. 2017 has actually been really good for us, and 2018 will only be better.
Leo Peterson
Well they tend to keep trainers around for joyrides too. IIRC there's a bunch of 2 seater Vampires around here still for that among the regular one seaters
>thunder publishes the RPG Hang on when did that happen?
Austin Campbell
Morning buddies! So what's everyone up to today?
Gabriel Robinson
Most of the CR fights are entirely for "fuck you" purposes
Joseph Gomez
Looking at airshow footage. Exporting a draken takeoff webm right now.
Dylan Gray
Is he the new Dirk then?
Adding elliptical wings to my push pull fighter, maybe removing the CRP for less ridiculousness
Yeah, it's quite accurate to compare the two, including the fact that they actual advanced tactics and bullshit units.
RIP Valentino
Nathaniel Moore
Don't jinx me.
I am in talks with a buddy to have it editorialized, which will result in a publishable product. I'll know more on monday.
Evan Parker
RIP Max
Ryan Gray
It still feels like they lowered the damage resistance of all the units even more than in 2, come to think of it there was an escort APC mission early on with Dirk's oneshot kills I guess this will be just as fun
Here you go
Best of luck then
Jose Ramirez
Do you have dimensions for this?
Aaron Baker
Around the Do335 give or take a meter, so rather large
Aiden Bell
Are the two engines the same?
Isaiah Flores
Hunting for references to draw with. I think I'll use this for the MiG-31, I think it favours the Foxhound's distinctive blockiness. What's the working title? I doubt it'll be "/aceg/ RPG".
Would you mind giving me a crash course on aircraft internals? Feel free to go into as much detail as you feel is needed, I'm eager to learn.
Jose Martin
There's no reason for them to not be I think, except on that one hybrid thing I drew for the Dark Shark buddy a while ago
Isaac Edwards
My working title is "/aceg/ abomination." I should change that at some point soon.
What do you want to know about aircraft internals? That's kind of vague. I can answer specific questions, and give opinions, but I don't think I can summarize something as broad as 'aircraft internals' in a timely or concise manner.
Just seems a bit nose heavy. What's the landing gear arrangement, tricycle?
Asher Harris
>tfw lack of knowledge impedes giving specific questions Mostly concerning the internal structure of an aircraft and arrangement of major clusters of avionics, if that makes any sense.
Cameron Thomas
For what kind of aircraft?
Oliver Young
hold on i got you
Wyatt Cooper
I think using the F-4 variants would be the best, but I'd be inclined to say F-15, Su-27 and variants of those.
Bentley Clark
...
Owen Lee
The gear needs reworking because I don't know if I can still store it in the wings, but yeah it has to be a tricycle by default. my guesstimation on the CG is just around the pilot, a bit fwd perhaps
I'd go roughly halfway between both engines, the fuel should be stored center
Making working flaps and ailerons is a bit of a pain though and I don't know how to really get it to look good while working, that said these here are clearly too large
Joseph Green
I'm not sure what I can tell you that you couldn't learn from just looking at these nice cutaway views.
Landon Cox

Dominic Martin
A bit of help in making semes out of them, that is understanding where to put things instead of just placing them where they are on the model I use, would go a long way. Reading through the F-5 one, do you have photographs of the nozzle actuator? Also, what is the purpose of the "Wing torque-box construction"? Is it a mechanism or a pattern in the frame?
Chase Gray
>in making sense Stupid typos. Also, I can't help but notice number 21, "Accesories". Is the marketing meme?
Daniel Cox
What sort of things? For electronics and avionics you generally sick them in the nose. The radar goes on the tip, and you generally stick the computers somewhere near the cockpit. You don't want to bury them somewhere you can't easily accessed from outside, and they need to be cooled.
Sebastian Cooper
Afaik torque box is just a term for the structure of the wing.
Justin Cruz
Yeah these are probably still the best bet for this kind of stuff
>Wing torque box construction Just seems to refer to the stringers and general construction of the wing, not a whole lot of other elements in the wing though so perhaps those are the ones that carry the load exclusively, like a bunch of mini spars or something, so probably what said Here's a picture of how a really simple wing is constructed
For the rest, what Thunder said. Usually there's an avionics bay in the nose somewhere just behind the radar. sometimes it's at the rear or around the cargo bay, but I've not seen it on smaller aircraft. That's speaking for business jets though
Engines are obvious, fuel usually goes somewhere in the wings or centerline so it doesn't fuck with the center of gravity too much, that said on something like the Typhoon they just stuck fuel wherever there's room so you'll see a ton of conformal tanks on it. Controls just go to and from the surfaces, same for the hydraulics.
I don't think there's all that many other systems
Dylan Martin

Still one of the best things to come out of WT, and I completely forgot about it

What's the function of the sky-spot antena? Just receving broadcasts coming from above? The radial pattern of the struts in the F-5 and Eurofighter surprise me a bit, I imagined all wings would be constructed in a way closer to your example, with struts parallel to the fuselage. Makes me wonder what an aeroelastic wing looks like on the inside. >on point example
Isaac Carter
>What's the function of the sky-spot antena? Just receving broadcasts coming from above?
In the context of vietnam era aircraft, it was for ground directed bombing during inclement weather.
Jack Brown
>Eurofighter That one has ribs though, they just decided to make the spar/stringer things the same size and shape to get a more rigid construction, I think. That said, the skin might be part of what carries the load on the F5, but I don't know
Why did they put that antenna up top then? Feels like an odd choice for signals that would come from the bottom most of the time If I understood the function properly
Cameron Davis
Does someone have some good pictures of Spitfire ailerons and how they actuate? I need some to try and get working ailerons on my wings here.
Whoops, meant to link to you too of course
Carson Harris
I don't know how detailed you want, but here's a rough overview of aircraft internals: The nose of a Jet Aircraft holds the radar equipment, which is a radar dish with enough free room to move around. This takes up 5-10% of the aircraft. Behind that is the cockpit including all necessary control elements. The cockpit is another 10-15% of the fuselage. Next to the aircraft are the air inlets, which are basically long and empty tunnels through the fuselage allowing air to flow to the engines. At the beginning of the inlets, there may be doors, which can be closed to regulate air flow to the engine at high speeds (if you go fast, more air will come in through the inlet, so reducing the size of the inlet keeps the air flow constant). Behind the cockpit is the avionics suite, which is basically a cluster of computers. These compute input signals from the cockpit in fly by wire systems, convert data gathered by the radar and other sensors and send the data to the cockpit, roughly 5-10% of the fuselage. Behind the avionics and next to the air inlets is usually an internal fuel tank, which takes up 20-30% Lastly, the air inlets connect to the engines, which are usually 25-30% of the aircraft.

I don't know a lot about radio waves, but generally you don't need direct line of sight to communicate. I believe that for over the horizon communications, the waves bounce off... something in the atmosphere? So they would be coming down from above... I don't actually understand enough about this to explain with confidence.
You can still use your cellphone even when you can't see a cell tower, no?
Brody Gomez
>realization hits that I own about 5 Spitfire manuals Still if anyone has some good pictures it'd be much apprechiated, these are pilot notes, there's not a whole lot about construction in these and the Haynes doesn't have a whole lot either
Well kind of and kind of not. I forgot the term but the radio needs at least pseudo LOS, which is why it barely works in the Alps. Of course it also bounces around and about mountains so sometimes you will still get it But yeah they also bounce for long range, but I feel like bombing target markers wouldn't be that far away, would they?
I'll be honest too though, I'm pretty sure I only passed that subject through pure luck, radio waves are magic
Isaac Rivera
The wings consist of an internal "skeleton", which consists of multiple spars that extend perpendicular to the aircraft fuselage to the wingtip and are connected by ribs, which are in turn perpendicular to the spars. Around these is the wing's skin, which is a thin layer of material (for jet's it's usually a form of metal) At the end of the wing, the trailing edge, there are two moving parts, the flaps and the ailerons. The flaps are always closer ones to the fuselage and extand to give the wings more area, increasing their lift. The ailerons are always on the outside and allow the aircraft to roll. Inside the wings there are usually more fuel tanks, since the wings are mostly hollow. The landing gear is often stored in the wings, or at least a part of it. Weapons are mounted below the wings on rails, which are usually on slightly reinforced sections of the wings, such as points where spars and ribs cross. Keep in mind, all of this is describing a normal sized jet fighter, such as an F-15 or Typhoon. For smaller jets, you need to increase the relative size of the cockpit, since you can't just mkae the pilot's smaller for smaller aircraft. The engine's relative size will also increase slightly, jsut like the landing gear. For larger aircraft it's the other way around, you will gain more internal space, which is usually filled up with more fuel, or bomb bays for large aircraft, such as bombers. Larger aircraft are also more likely to have internal weapons bays in general.
Joshua Jenkins
It also depends on frequency. Cell phones usually operated somewhere between 850-1900MHz. To reliably skip off the ionosphere, you need to be in the 3-30MHz range.
