Why the heck did they turn a 2 door sports car into a crossover SUV?

Why the heck did they turn a 2 door sports car into a crossover SUV?

Because your mom can't do doggy in a coupe no more

Makes sense.

Because no one bought the 2 door "sports" car and companies need to sell products in order to stay in business.

Fpbp

>fwd
>sports car

Pick ONE

They should had used a different name that's no eclipse

I thought everyone bought the Eclipse because of the import tuner scene going on.

It's just mitsubishi doing mitsubishi things

>old eclipse
coupe
>nu eclipse
crossover

>old space star
minivan
>nu spacestar
hated small shitbox

>old mirage
sedan
>nu mirage
same hated small shitbox as nu spacestar

>4th gen eclipse
>sports car

Pick one.

This is unironically the reason.
Companies spend millions on brand image.
And as your customer base ages, the brands known to them must change with them.
That's why the civic went from a cheap reliable shit box to an expensive semi-reliable entry level luxury sedan.

They did tho it's called the Eclipse Cross

They could've just called it the Cross or something different to completely seperate it from the Eclipse.

Bump

Yeah maybe in 2003.

Wish more of them had offered the AWD option.

Hey the Fast and the Furious films still make a lot of money.

>Fast 1
>Budget $38 million
>Box Office $207.3 million
>$169.3 million profit
>$236.8 million adjusted for inflation

>Fast 7
>Budget $190 million
>Box office $1.516 billion
>Profit $1.326 billion
>$1.383 billion adjusted for inflation

>Fast 8
>Budget $250 million
>Box office $1.236 billion
>Profit $986 million
>$1.002 billion adjusted for inflation

>STILL MAKE A LOT OF MONEY
More like, finally make a lot of money.

It had a great design, I still think it holds up really well and looks modern. It also had more power than I expected. Problem was

>FWD
>heavy
>seriously, have no clue how it's so fucking heavy
>not particularly cheap
>dwindling coupe market because normies are fucking gay

3rd and 4th gen eclipse are basically an unreliable accord coupe that's worse in every way. The eclipse was always a shittier sports car than the lancer, it's not like it had a lot of prestige. Everyone i knew growing up had an eagle talon or eclipse that was always fucking broken.

Well why the fuck would I want to tune cars irl if I can just watch fast and furious

because they're desperate for cash and decided to shit the last good bits of their legacy

those new expendables ripoffs will never come close to the original though

The first and 3rd were great.
But the 3rd was the lowest grossing of them all.
They're not about cars anymore. They're about explosions.

But then they can't copy Subaru.

Protip: every car in the US will be a crossover or mini hatch by 2025.

Deal with it rice bois.

>import tuner scene

that stopped being a thing when Asian car companies stopped being "imports".

Bump

Well they need to shit on the 3000GT to shit their legacy im general.
