Didn't know if I should post this here or to /out/ but I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I need an all terrain daily truck, preferably an SUV. I was shooting for a 4th gen 4runner but there are none in my area. I need dependable alternatives
My main criteria is 4WD, Reliable or easy maintenance, good clearance options for trails/off-road excursions, and under $10k. Please help :)
Fuck off princess go look for it yourself. We don't even know where you live to start looking, just get fucking rav4 or a gen 1 taco and keep it stock nigger

If I were you I would buy the local beat up subaru outback and raise it up a couple inches (whatever your trails require) and run her till she gives. They are much more capable than they are given credit for. Also way more cost effective over time than what you were describing. Also these two aren't bad choices ()

Jeep Cherokee would be your best bet for under 10k.

3rd gen 4runner or older pathfinder. Tahoes and yukons are good if theyre taken care of.
Ignore this Three obvious alternatives are; Montero, Pathfinder or XJ Cherokee. Another bonus suggestion, although I'm not sure what they sell for in your region, is a Lexus GX470. Identical platform to the 4Runner with a more spacious accommodation cab (based on the global Prado).

Amazing they'd put a small car drivetrain into a fullsize SUV
Hunter Powell
Oh yea, cause most small cars have V8s, heavy duty trannies and rear wheel drive platforms and heavy duty 4x4 components
Leo Harris
Oh can't forget on frame as well, with massive tires
Jordan Hernandez
>heavy duty trannies >4L60 Lol >8.5" rear diff Amazing they'd stick something weaker than a V6 Ranger axle under the back.
Luke Bailey
Hell, a fucking Pathfinder has a bigger diff and gearbox than that "half ton".
but that one has piddly little diffs, so ground clearance is better :')

If you're American, you really can't go wrong with the GMT Tahoe/Yukon twins. The GMT400 and GMT800's are reliable and easy as fuck to maintain (especially the 400's), easy to find in 4x4, have decent clearance stock and are cheap cheap cheap.
