Bought this game because it's on sale. I haven't kept tabs on it at all but I remember bitching about multiple things, including short mission timers.

Should I go with vanilla campaign or is WotC mandatory?

Used to be he had some energy and spontaneity. which made him one of few regular XCOM streamers who were both entertaining and good enough to learn from.

WotC is vanilla but better, just start with it. There is also increase timers "second wave" option (advanced settings or something) when you start the campaign.

Any good voice mods that aren't just meme voices? Be nice for other languages that aren't in.

You can get really good order that makes the timer not run until you break concealment. And there is a ... skirmisher one that adds 2 to every times. But I just ticked the double timer option for my legend run. Too annoyed with the game as is to have to dash everywhere.

Thanks for replying anyway but I guess I'll bite the bullet and go with Vanilla first. Am I going to get fucked hard if I go for Hard difficulty first? I played the first xcom quite well but I always took my time and did missions slow so I am unsure how will I handle the new pacing.

Playing XCOM 1 for the first time right now, are SHIVs worth investing into?

Some playthroughs incentivize your armor and gadgets
others focus down one class
others still help you rush gun damage
Game is pretty dynamic as a result of those changes alone
I can see it potentially having a ton of replay value, although the campaign missions themselves are very high stress, with or without the timers--at least compared to the majority ofvanilla XCOM 2

You've gotta to be quite aggressive right now. XCOM 2 for me is basically "How can I quickly defeat Alien pods in 1 turn before they fuck me and delay me from completing the objective". You've got plenty of assets to achieve it too, so just go full ham, abuse Concealment for scouting and eliminate Aliens in one alpha strike.

You can't control when alien rulers turn up other than eventually taking on a blacksite, due to not being able to to take the Valhen hunt mission.

You don't get extra AP from taking on Julian in the Lost Towers Mission as well as SPARK related mods needing you to undertake the mission for some god-forsaken reason.

Oh woo, I have the DLC weapons from the start? They're still shit and I have to waste 10 days researching them if I take them as my first research option unless I'm somehow lucky enough to nab a scientist or get an inspiration, which is still 5 days.

And SPARKS still need elerium cores as well as alloys and supplies, which could be better spent on other shit in the early game.

Somehow by "integrating" the DLC Jake actually made them worse. How the fuck did he even manage it?

One guy has gotten the LW SMG and Laser Pack working, apparently he's moving onto Coilgun pack with vanilla integration next.

A lot of people want him to update the perk pack, myself included - but he's unsure if he can, from the quote on his own steam page the officer mod is difficult as hell to figure out, so the perk pack might be beyond his abilities to do.

A lot of the other most popular cosmetic mods are now working, along with Evac All, Numeric Health Display and other quality of life fixes.

Now I wonder If I uncheck integration do I get Rulers with the old ruleset, like getting turns after reloading or for actions beyond their LoS?

Is there any way to "encourage" the AI to patrol into my overwatch traps during Gatecrasher? Every now and then I'll get lucky and the Sectoid and Captain pods will still be patrolling after I'm revealed, but usually they just sit in one spot indefinitely. Not sure what the trigger is to get them to keep roaming.

Why did visual cues become so much worse in XCOM 2? Overwatch misses have the characters twitch slightly to any side and start shooting past the target.

That has never happened to me, they usually wake up just fine when you kill the Spectre.

Now I kinda miss old turn based games where bullets had physics and free aiming, like SIlent Storm. You could just spray in general enemy direction and still hit with some of them.

Beags uses the "noise" mechanic from breaking windows and smashing doors to get pods to come over to him, but I tried it myself and while the Trooper pod came running along the Sectoid and Captain pod were perfectly content with remaining perfectly still for the 20-some combined turns I spent spamming overwatch followed by inching forward. There doesn't seem like a surefire method for forcing them to come to you, they either choose to be mobile or choose to stay still.

I just did the reaper/skirmisher introduction mission and holy hell, the lost are fun and tense

That's annoying. I wouldn't be so particular about it if it wasn't for the fact that I'm almost certain that Gatecrasher has at least one guaranteed hit on a full-cover soldier no matter what, usually on the last pod. Happens way too often.

Rend is still considered melee, so if a Chosen gets the strength where they're immune to melee you're kinda fucked. Also Muton can counter Rend.
