Yea, I'd say give it a go. It starts light hearted but gradually picks up (as usual with most anime with kids as the protagonists) in the later episodes

Guardpoints are always helpful, try practicing it with enemies that constantly charge you like diablos / monoblos and you will become almost untouchable.
