yeah it's normal. After you get the hang of making money and what crops sell for what you'll be able to make mad cash easy regardless of skill levels. I hated the farm type I chose after the first year, so I rerolled and I was a rich man going into summer compared to my first playthrough.

In Darkwood, is anything ever said as to why people can't simply climb over the trees to get out? Sure they're tall as fuck, but I would imagine someone would have thought to rig up a climbing harness.

I'm not saying it would be easy, but someone has to have tried it. Once you're up there it probably wouldn't even be all that bad moving around since the trees grow literally right alongside each other making thick walls. I think the main challenge would be getting to the top of the first tree.
This is assuming of course the treetops aren't filled with various mutants

Two problems :
- The Woods seem to be able to fuck with your brain and make you believe that you are leaving the forest when you are actually going deeper inside of it.
- The few people who tried to push their way out became mindless mutants.

I found a place off the edge of the map in Darkwood's swamp just called "camp". All I can find here are banshees though, no actual loot. Am I missing something before I turn back?

Is there a hack and slash/ARPG where your actions actually matter? I like Grim Dawn but getting shit done for the villagers and seeing absolutely no improvement is infuriating.

they just revamped story mode so you go through the world twice, things having changed a bunch the second time

I have so many questions but for now I think I'll just ask one:
Near-ending Darkwood spoilers. In the penultimate dream sequence, seeing the "memory" of the storage area, I ended up going down the tunnel when the guy told me to turn back. The tunnel was a dead end and "killed" me, waking me from the dream.
What happens if you persist and break the door barricade open instead? There's a lot of things in this game I can't figure out but that whole sequence really stands out.

Radio Tower is one of the two ways to reach the epilogue, the other is burning the Talking Tree.

Seeing these darkwood posts makes me hungry for more, but then I get stuck in the old forest because shovel is too slow and chompers/dogs fuck me up good.

When I finally upgraded to the axe I got my ass kicked a few times first, because I was still swinging way too early, expecting the shovel's slow swing. Swinging immediately took getting used to.
The shovel's range and arc are great, though. I'd say use its secondary in a pinch, it's fast enough to get through a lot of fast enemies who can chain-hit you, at least give yourself an opening. Ditto the axe. The interrupt attack saves lives.

Craft a pistol and buy all the ammo from Trader every morning.

It's all about the timing man, don't be afraid to do it slow, dodge a lot and get a swing in whenever possible.

Whats a decent defence layout in Rimworld?

I see the backgrounds are just as packed with fun little stuff as in the first.

Why are Rimworld screenshots so satisfying?

To be honest shovel really sucks against huge dogs because they attack quickly enough to easily interrupt shovel attacks. I have more luck fighting them with a stick.

Nope.

How do you open it in general then? Usually quest characters just give you a keycard in situation like this.

There will be a body under the gate once you get the quest, allowing you to squeeze through.

Try looking up some killbox designs. They are the most effective defence without mods.

Personally, I hate them, as they abuse the shitty AI. I use the ED-Embrasures mod, which gives you walls that can be fired through (both ways), so you can make "towers" and bunkers. A single pawn with an LMG in a 3x3 building can hold enemies really well, at least until they start bringing launchers and mortars.

So what does killing the sow get you, in both endings? I chose to leave her alone and the villagers got a good-ish ending in the True Ending, didn't bother checking what happened in the false ending.

In a way, I think the straightforwardness of Bounty Hunter's backstory makes him stand out among the other characters.

In Lovecraft stories, these weird religions tend to predate modern religion. And the Ancestor says the ruins he dumped the pig demons into "predate the earliest settlers."

Bliss Ending : The villagers starve, kill and eat all the chicken, some try to cross through the woods. The Chicken Lady get eaten by her sister before the pretty lady die too.
True Ending : Most die by the fire, some cross the woods and get to the swamp

I have so many regrets about who I'd treat differently.
Even knowing all possible outcomes the one interaction I'm most on the fence about is Piotrek. He only dies if it's by your hand, which is in some ways a running theme here, but he'll never get to see the Milky Way.

Also killing the doctor in the train car might be a mercy.
