I need help, I got the black samurai armor and went through most of Tokyo and could only find
1.over leveled demons with domains

in nocturne, magic only affects mp, magic damage/healing, and magic accuracy. the jp wiki also has it affecting magic evasion but doesn't offer any support for that, and the guy who made the hardtype patch says magic evasion is only based on level, agility, and luck (and the attacker's magic accuracy, which based on the attacker's level, magic, and luck). no source that i could find has magic affecting magic defense, though.

for video support, compare the magic damage throughout this fight: youtube.com/watch?v=ydD4lzf46IM . there's damage variance, but mazionga and maziodyne don't consistently do more damage to the mc or sarutahiko than they do to okuninushi. not the best comparison, but i got tired of looking and i think it's good enough.

so what's with the series usage of the phrase "son of man"? Historically, hasn't this been used to refer to Jesus in addition to "son of God"? It seems as though they've taken liberty with the phrase and use it when referring to a man or woman on earth. They've also used the phrase "children of man". Is this only used by divine beings when referring to those who hold immense power like the main character(s) or has it ever been used to describe regular people? The phrase sounds cool in any case.

SMTIV, especially A considers "messiah" to be PCs. It also has distinct lore from the others (lucy and satan), so dont get too hung up on terminologies and meanings.

Yeah, Final really went all in on that messiah shit. I wonder if things will be that way going forward or if it'll just be a one off. I don't really have an issue with it for some entries but I don't think I want to play as "the chosen one" in every game, at least not in a traditional JRPG sense. I like just being a dude who got strong or was able to recruit some strong demons to fight for him.

Considering IVA somewhat implies Axiom to be players/meta influence ("sometimes axiom bestows two messiahs" "Axiom observes reality through eyes of messiahs"), Messiah wouldn't mean necessarily "one who saves the world" but rather "Axiom incarnate" i.e. "playable character", keeping in mind messiah literally means "anointed one".
