Nothing to redpill they are fucking solid 4x4s
>solid
>10 spline axles
>need an engine crane to remove gearbox
Op here.
What are they like to live with day by day?
I know the turning circle is absolutely shit for one and having to buy an older one means fucking rough as guts.
Would it make a decent first 4x4? I've only ever had cheap daily's for work.
it's not a fucking daily driver dude, it's a car that lives in rough terrain, it's a slow car for any meaningful highway. It's a farm car an offroader, there's a reason why the meme BRITISH ENGINEERING , and it's not broken it's british, you need to know the car inside out to have any idea what's wrong with it.
Main issues are power steering leaks, timing belt failure, transfer case engagement and disengagement problems , be sure you have the full service history, watch out for the recalls, flywheel engine, brakes, and parking brake recall, front seat belt mounts. the best engine seems to be the ford tdci post 2012.
Have fun
So nothing you won't have problems with when you buy any other car. Cool.
nothing buy one you wont regret it, most reliable 4x4xfar.
yeah because flywheel recalls it's regular.
If there is no fluid in the ground under your parking spot, it means you lost all your fluids before you parked.
You can't afford a Defender, senpai
>morning routine
> 5:30 A FUCKING M
>get to the car
>start it
>wait 70 seconds for the oil to heat up a bit and drive off
>move half a meter turning the steering
>horrible sound of screaming metal and satan's minions coming from the front
>turn the steering more
>even more screaming and metal destruction
>sound only is audible only when the wheels are trying to turn
>OHSHITWHATTHEFUCK.mkv
>pop the hood
>shout at the engine
>WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU
>check the steering fluid reservoir
>empty
>gone
>disappeared
>nisba
>get phone out and start looking near the power steering pump
>line burst
>mineral oil everywhere
>KILLMEJESUS.iso
>go get my bike
>bike to work while hoping i get rolled under a semi
>get to work late, because i didn't die under the truck
>have to stay late at work to gain the lost half hour
>get the car to the shop
>899+tax
>fuck no
>go buy a hydraulic line from a specialized shop
>59.99
>fuck yeah
>6 hours on cold ass winter ground to install it
>bruised knuckles and fingers, cuts everywhere
>hope it works
>it does
>i don't even check for leaks i'm just happy the noise is gone and fluid isn't gushing out
>i am THE MAN
>go home, shower, jerk off, go to bed sobbing
>it's monday already
>start the car
>no more noise
>i cry tears of relief during the commute to work
People use them as daily drivers everywhere.
It's a slow rumbling uncomfortable fuckfest, driver position is extremely crammed specially the knee section. It's an obnoxious experience to daily drive it, the road and especially the highway it's not where it belongs.
Is the power steering and a/c not on their own separate belt?
If so you could have just removed that and driven around without powersteering for a while.
>HURRR Durr heavy 4x4 too heavy
I had a powersteering pressure line go out on my land cruiser and I still drove that thing around for about 6 months on roads that make British farm roads look spacious before the wife got fed up and made me fix it.
The key is to; open your eyes, look where you are going and plan ahead.
British Engineering isn't something you just casually ignore. They're robust, but they are not reliable. They're almost Russian in that regard; they won't fall apart due to being driven/abused, that just happens naturally on its own. Oh and they rust like shit.
Also, if you're a Burger, you can't afford one. Their value has been memed into the stratosphere, and Customs hates their grey market so much you'll get buttfucked even if you're trying to import a legal one. If you want a British 4x4, just buy a Discovery. It'll be just as unreliable, but it'll be a much better on-road vehicle and the entry price won't be nearly as high.
Straya. I have a feeling they are too pricey for what they are here as well.
my dad has one
Nice and fun to drive offroad and on trips, but absolutely horrid as a daily driver, my dad specifically bought another car for $1000 to use as a daily driver.
Uncomfortable, Noisy, shit turning circle, terrible to park.
But these are all part of its character, it looks and feels like a TRUCK, not like some gay american cadillac ford/chebby or jap offroader. The gear stick looks like something pulled straight out of a semi, and they look cool as fuck.
dont ever consider using it as a daily if you have another option
I didn't have the time, and didn't think about it, when the steering pump runs on empty the sound it makes it's terrifying, also this happened on my dad's a4 not on a land rover, it was just related to the fluids joke the post above, made.
>jap offroader
>gay
He doesn't know the land cruisers are the manliest thing there is, you poor soul
If pic related is considered gay, then I'm a full blown faggot that fucks asses and sucks dick
Yeah I would suck a dick for one of those (no homo)
there is a level of how gay you are. sucking dicks and fucking asses is pretty high level.
I saw this a while ago on sale for $3700 where i live
would love a 130.
parking would be a cunt though
Thanks for the feed back my dude
Just as underequiped and over priced as the defenders.
>underequipped
All offroaders are a platform on which you add accessories. What do you expect front and rear pneumatic locked chromoly axles ??
The biggest issue toyota has are those rear leaf springs, and no traction control. Otherwise i would always pick the toyota simply because the anemic engine in the land rover and it's crammed driving position.
Looks like a poser car, where the limb risers at, alloy wheels, instead of steel.
Yeah this car has never seen a trail
>kill hosrie
NOOOOOOO
they're just super expensive
that's the main issue, otherwise they're fine
>powersteering pressure line go out on my land cruiser
Or you could just spend some arm time in the gym and drive a Landcruiser without power steering.
>trendy space gray
>huge nigger tier AT tires instead of pizzacutter MTs
>corporate logos everywhere
Can immediately tell this LC was ruined in US and is probably SEMA(tm) tier trailer queen.
>corporate logos
Warn winch and arb it's just 2 logos that are already on the gear when you buy it, not that many
>drive a Landcruiser without power steering.
Cant you read? I did for approx six months no problem, so did my wife on and off, but with problem. It's even harder to drive one with a powersteering ratio with a failed powersteering than it is to drive one with a non-assisted box ratio.
Why would I search for one without powersteering when I have one already
>That bedrail
That's one way to show that you never use the truck
Those overwide a/t tires piss me off too.
>fluids joke
>He thinks that landrovers leaking fluids is a joke.
When there are no leaking fluids it is time to be concerned
What's the point of the whitewalls if you are going to put them inside?
Yep
Real 4x4's doing real mudding no more brochure princess
Here we go
>No more brochure princess
>His two first posts were brochure princesses
I have been discovered, quickly to the unimogs
last one
Cloven hoof. That's a cow.
I was referring to newer soymobiles like Prados and newer patrols
Dunno senpai, I'd consider a "truck" with 10 spline axles and not being able to drop its gearbox a soymobile desu
>Landrover fangirls ignore these points
>What's the point of the whitewalls
Tire shop only stocks white letter tires. If you want black/no logo, they just mount them the other way around.
Because it's a show car.. so yea
Don't get me wrong, They are good cars. I sold them. But they aren't the end all of offroaders. Accessories are one thing but still having AC as a factory option is just pathetic. Plus the V8 fuel and rego just sucks ass in Aus.
Op here.
I have sold Toyota and Landrover. I fell in love with landrovers but I know they are a cunt to fix and pricey. Just wanted an opinion on the daily life of them. Some of you have been very helpful. So thanks.
The only problem is I honestly don't know what I want. Plus it's going to be my first offroader so I'm not buying new and shiny.
>this chad aussie breezes into your trail and slaps your yota's arse?
what do you do?
you had to look at the hoof? it has the head of a cow
Why are Americans such kikes?
I don't like the new patrol either, but i do however kind of like the 200 series
>me
>owning a land rover
I wish senpai, if i'm wrong post pics of it on the trail
Sorry i read,
Because it's your car
I get it, i just think since the UN uses 200 series as humanitarian vehicles i still think the pedigree is there. Personally i think a 6x6 it's the sweetspot for ultimate offroader, portals and extreme reliability, but makes for a very expensive vehicle, so given the options i still prefer a toyo over a rover, i sat in a rover for 5 minutes as the driver, and almost got my knees capped
What is it??
its an OKA, aussie as fuck cunt
Thanks cunt, love straya
Just got me an 80 series 1hz/turbo. had 420,000k's on it but it runs perfectly. EGT's are low. Taken it off road a few times already, super fun. Sounds like you're driving a truck and makes wagecucks angry when you take off too slowly at the lights at peak hour and they start beeping. Best car I ever had.
