Mfw I was white trash and my dad wouldn't let me work on cars with him

>mfw my grandpa gave my dad his ‘69 thunderbird as his first car
>mfw my dad gave me his base trim ‘02 Hyundai Accent as my first car
At least he tought me how to drive manual

mfw we weren't white trash and i had to convince my dad to let me work on them myself

mfw my dad taught me to drive manual but he's really fucking terrible at it so I had to basically learn on my own via trial and error in his hand-me-down truck with a destroyed clutch and transmission

I have a huge age gap with my old man hes like 57 im 23

fun fact, once I moved out he kept driving the same destroyed truck until he retired. he was an executive at a multi-billion dollar company and did it just to troll the other executives by parking next to wacky luxury cars in his clapped out b-series pickup

I'm 20 and my mom is 44

My dad didn't know how to work on vehicles despite us being white trash. I taught myself.

I also still drive the '99 Cherokee my parents bought new. I'm 29 now. 210k and still chugging along fine. Being able to do your own maintenance really helps with longevity.

I'm 22. My deceased father would have been 70 this year.

>Mfw my dad died when I was 2 and I still worked on cars in my late teens becuase I'm not some nu-male-cucklord in training.

>tfw I never got to work on cars with my dad because my mom was a spiteful bitch who did everything she could to keep me from spending time with him

>raised by grandma in an apt
>never got to work on cars

I know this feel. It sucks having a dad who just pays someone to do all the work for him. I know nothing about cars and have to pay people when shit goes wrong.

theres nothing stopping you from learning

>mfw dad doesn't even know how to use a drill properly.
>mfw he thinks the torque adjustment thingy is for different materials.
>mfw he's never drilled a straight hole in his life
>mfw i have no face
