W124 as a daily commuter to replace my VW Golf
I want one in good shape with no rust and a specific engine option (300-24) so i have to search for some time.

FUCK FUCK FUCK NO NO NO.
DO NOT go for the 300e-24 engine option. Only in service for roughly 18 months before it was changed for the 3.2 and so many parts are -24 specific. My coil ignitor shat itself and a replacement from Benz is $6.5K. There's no aftermarket for that part so I'm stuck waiting for one of the seven benz wreckers around me to phone me saying they've got one in stock. Car has been immobile for 9 months now. Only reason I haven't scrapped it is that I've got every single bill since new in a folder 4 inches thick. That and full Sportline.

7m is garbage but i totally understand the appeal of the mk3. I've ripped many a bowls in one and the interior is a solid 8/10. A project is a project. If its your first don't expect it to be reliable or relatively cheap. If your straight balling on a budget get a cheap ass honda and slowly work on it.(if even more impoverished than that you can learn almost everything online with enough effort). Never have a project as your only daily, cars are so much more fun when you can break them without having a serious detriment to your life. Turbo mk3s are getting hard to find, i used to find them for $400-500 all day around Illinois. It will be different where your at. Don't try to sprint before you walk, fwd shitboxes are some of the most pure fun you can have.
