They were a demon summoned by the father. The demon wanted family sacrifices from Malget. He killed the two sisters but Mavrick caught him. He made up a lie about their deaths. Maverick didn't believe them, they fought. He killed his father. Demon came back years later wanting the rest of the sacrifice.

We don't really know a lot about her youth. It's implied Vesemir knew her before she went to Aretuza so maybe he knew her parents or something. It's also not known whether she was ugly or not before magic.

Rich, edified family kept the company of a witcher. Townsfolk resented said family for relationship with said witcher and kills mom and dad. Triss found alive by Vesemir and his medallion always sensed an affinity for magic so he sent her to Aretuza. Throughout her days in Aretuza when Vesemir was around the area he'd stop by to smuggle her some gifts from the outside world.
