I know many people who work with old and new German cars and they all agree that they don’t build them like they used to. Old German cars were extremely reliable, the new ones have lost the quality.
Besides rust and other age related issues older BMWs and Benzs are unkillable.
French cars have ALWAYS been complete steaming piles of pure shit though.

If we're here to talk about anecdotal evidence, then what about my dad's 1997 525i with 400k km on the engine that he had for 5 years now? The only issues are body rust and failing ABS sensors. Also everyone I know that is into cars always confirms that 6 cylinder BMW petrol engines of that era are extremely reliable and are great for drift because you can beat on them and they will be fine.
Also what about the Latvian guy on Veeky Forums that owns a diesel E60 with like 600k on the clock?
