Some cars are now going back in time to the 1980s. I never thought I'd see the day we would go back to not only no tach, which is pretty standard these days, but now no temp gauge as well.

I believe some models of the Camaro Berlinetta had a speedometer that didn't register above 88 MPH. It would simply flash 88 at or above 88.

Isn’t the type S top speed around 142mph? Is it drag limited? I’ve gotten my heavier accord with less horses to 122mph, have you verified that the RSX can’t hit over 140?

My slightly less powerful (base RSX engine) 02 Civic Si does has a reported top speed of 135 but once you get past 100 the acceleration slows down heavily enough that you'd need a huge space to actually hit top speed. The 200hp out of the RSX-S probably could hit 140 but again requiring a shit ton of space to do it. Wind resistance and gearing might prevent it though, I have no idea.

213k RSXbro, I have the base auto, so I can’t speak to the type-S. It seemed to top out around 115mpg or so, but I had to consciously floor it to get there and it starts feeling unstable 100+.
My original point was since my first car was a 240sx whose speedometer maxes at 110mph or so, you see the gauges in the RSX and think you’re in business since it caps at 160, even though the car isn’t capable of that once you learn more about how things work.

battery will give a floating voltage anywhere up to 16 then slump to 12 under load
near and below 10 volts floating is useless
